For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

Great video! Well said and your right Nutrition is so overlooked. Oftentimes to the point that some people think you’re crazy for suggesting it. I once had a foster Pomeranian with severe separation anxiety but switched to raw food along with 2mile walks and obedience training completely transformed him within months. When he got adopted I told his new owner she should continue his raw diet but she stopped and called 3 months later distraught crying saying she needed to give him back because she was ruining him. I consoled her and sent her links to the raw food, instructed her how to use the ecollar that I had also used to train him. She did all of the things I recommended and she now competes him in agility.

I always get the old school guys in the comments letting me know I'm a Kook for suggesting that nutrition could play a roll in unwanted behaviours lol. Sometimes raw diets can backfire if the gut is off but for most dogs they can handle additions to their diet and eventually transition :) Thanks for watching and engaging!

My schnoodle is hugely social (he's now 3 and a half)..... but I have issues on our walks with some dogs (unknown) - he can be 'saying hello' when he suddenly does the growl and snap.... other items, even if we are across the road, he will bark aggressively and pull towards the dog (and then my other dog - a cavoodle - does the same thing). It is hard to 'control' two dogs at once. I try and 'catch' them both with food treats - as a distraction - before they 'engage'! Sometimes it works!

Please can you also tell me what you would add to this list for a reactive dog that’s been attacked by an off leash dog, if anything?

hey. sorry to hear that. more pack time after the reactivity is dealt with. it needs to be a very social pack. start with on leash walks

Love this video thank you so much for posting!!! The drug addiction analogy is brilliant and totally makes sense with how things have gone with my dog Nova Scotia!!! First it was people walking dogs now it’s progressed to just people walking, more and more things trigger her and that totally explains it! Also, I had a feeling you were Canadian before you mentioned it! ❤

feeding can be more complicated than you make it out to be, fasting/intermittent fasting also have counterindication study results showing in increases risk of heart problems etc. If your dog has poor digestion or digestive issues like Reflux its recommended to feed many small portions a day (not kibble tho) Also some dogs should use a harness, especially frail dogs or dogs with risk for Collapsed trachea

That dog is very reactive indeed 😂 and yes, most reactive dogs are just frustrated because they "want to say hello" and the owner does either nothing or even reinforces it. Then it increases the behaviour as the dog gets to why he was screaming and sometimes not. Others are fear based and owners just let the dog alone with it's fear. My white GSD would be highly reactive if in the wrong hands as he would like to play with all dogs. It was quite the work to get impulse control into him and only meet other dogs if he is calm. Would've been easier if e-collars and prongs weren't forbidden here. I would use them

ah I'm sorry to hear that you are limited on tools but are finding success. Banning tools solves nothing

I wish my dog were only leash reactive. She gets super aggressive to other dogs on or off leash. Neutral ground or not. Her threshold is 6 blocks. The other dog doesn't even have to notice her. It can be a large dog, or small dog. Old dog or young she is even worse of it's a female dog. She used to be able to happily rode in the back of the car...see a dog alongside the road look at it with interest or ignore it. But didn't reacte. Within the past 3 weeks, we can be driving down the road 60mph...and if she sees a dog anywhere in a yard, on the edge of a yard, in the back of a truck....she gets so agggressive..she does the huge GSD angry bark slams herself into the closed window....like cujo ..spittle flying.etc. Its getting to where I don't even want to take her anywhere in the car now. Her reactivity is so bad that when she is on leash she pulls and lunges 10x worse than if if sees a squirrel. I have her on a nylon martingale collar. Ive tried a slip lead....she has figured how to get out of it when she gets crazy. And yes.she was spayed. She is a purebred showline Gsd...she came from a hoarding situation where she had puppies at around a year old. :( After her puppies were sold, she and her sister began fighting...they were the two youngest dogs in the house. She suffered a torn cornea in her left eye. The shelter coaxed the hoarders to give her and her sister up. With people she is super sweet. Has great house manners. Does not resource guard. Gets along with the 8year old cat. If I take her deep into the woods, and walk in abandoned logging roads..off leash she stays near me , is relaxed, and enjoys the walk. But anywhere else....her head is on a swivel. She walks tense, ready to fight when she is not trying to sniff things.

You speak my language, there is no way positive only methods work with dogs....as with people u need corrections albeit mild or stern to teach lifes lessons...its all about consequence of actions to be able to produce balanced well rounded animals or humans😊....good video.

@@doggettstyledogtraining I think if any one has a problem with my comment id like to see them train an unruly headstrong 74kg 2 yr old African mastiff with a handful of treats an gentle finger wagg lol........i dont think so.....an its those people who get innocent dogs who just ned a firm hand put to sleep.

@doggettstyledogtraining the biggest problem PP trainers see and what informs their distaste for advanced correction tools and techniques is far too many avg Joe owners use the tools incorrectly and sometimes dangerously with serious consequences. I'm not doubting you properly train the owners how to use these methods and tools but the owners who use them improperly are dangerous.

Please, consider changing to a diet of a high quality wet food with at least 60 % of protein. Kibble is - for many reasons - the worst you can do to your dog. And the worst person to ask about dog nutrition is your vet. The total duration of training in animal nutrition during college is just four hours, of which only 90 minutes are spent on dog nutrition.

Hey! Ya it’s said about the lack of training vets get in this vital area. Wet food (canned) has a Lot of issues as well. A balanced DIY diet is the best with a balanced commercial being 2nd best. Have you read “The Forever Dog” or “The Forever Dog Life” yet?
