Hi Tom and Mike. Played since 1987. This seminar clarified to me that guitar is sounds, physical ability and emotions. My main thing is having fun. Your ideas about phrasing ive not heard of in improvising, quality of sound. In practicing my mode is to work on either speed, song memory, or new ideas. Now i may mesh the three, phrasing and speed, phrasing on learning new material, or just accuracy during speed work, paying close attention to how i am feeling and the note quality during practice. For example, "sacred wonder" by Tony MacAlpine, i try to understand what Tony is feeling in playing those notes and try increasing the speed and phrasing quality. Thanks for the tools related to phrasing and new ideas this was a ton of ideas. Its difficult sometimes to give meaning to every note during shredding, however alternating quality of phrasing with speed work will help the player.

Just thought I'd try improvisation practice with 2 or 3 notes for a few minutes over a 4 beats to the bar root bass note. An hour later…😊
