You're very right saying more people need to give Hip-Hop a chance. Saying all Rap is about sex and violence is no less dumb than saying all Metal is about Satan. Great video as always Jon.
@Dani_10127 жыл бұрын
Second Avenger I understand what you're saying but the thing with me is not that ideology but just the sound and beat and raping.. I don't like it and can't seem to get into it All I'm hearing is low mumbling and some curse words that I don't like hearing. And as well it is the imagery that I get and the feelings that I get when listening to the songs; everytime I listen to a song I always imagine some scenes that could fit the song or its tune, and when it comes to the feeling I like to feel either relaxed or really pumped up that I want to scream and move around like a crazy person and I don't feel either way with rap and hip hop. I'm always getting images and scenes I don't like and I'm someone who can't get out of their comfort zone no matter how hard I try. I just don't like feeling out of place. I noticed that the only way I can like a hip hop or rap song it's if it has another tune than the one you'd expect to hear on those type of songs, like the type of tune I just heard on the Eminem song John put for this video, it was a tune I could easily get into but the rest of the songs he put on the video were songs I really didn't like. Idk, if rap and hip hop had more of those tunes I would listen more to it; maybe it's just that I haven't made the effort to look into it but for now all the rap and hip hop I hear is from my classmates and from what I've heard it has every single bad thing you could expect to hear from rap/hip hop song; sex, nudity, etc

For me, artists like Kendrick Lamar, Immortal Technique, Eminem, and Logic helped get me into rap and hip hop. I used to totally hate it, but over the past few years my opinion has changed. I was always the one who thought that all rap was meaningless, generic crap. But I started delving into different artists and read the lyrics. The artists I listed have some really deep lyrics, especially Kendrick Lamar and Immortal Technique. Those two especially got me into rap.

Lose yourself. Eminem was really the first artist I fell in love with. I was in like 5th grade when I heard that song for the first time and it made me so hyped up. I loved it and still love it and that encouraged me to look into more of his music and other people like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Many of those songs got me into Rap as well, specifically Get low and In Da Club, but even though I still jam to them when they come on, they're still not my favorite by any means. I enjoy music with meaning and has something to it. Eminem always has a huge soft spot for me, and the song that made me want to listen to more of his music was Mockingbird. I still enjoy Eminem and I've started to like some other rappers like Kendrick Lamar and some old school rappers like Dr Dre and Notorious BIG who also got me interested in checking more other artists like MGK and Lecrae. I don't like everything that they all have put out, but I enjoy a good handful of the music. All these rappers have even got me into one of my favorite most underrated rapper of all time, NF.
