So, it would be good to hear talk about the probable, possible, as well as likely causes of dementia - such as glyphosate poisoning, all chemical insecticides, “organophosphate” presence in our world due to contamination through use of these horrifying chemicals. This truthful education could hopefully help people use the brains they have left to stop being SO ignorant as to buy these chemicals and use them.

Right now my mom is asking for things like food, coffee, water, wanting to help us, and other things! 4 weeks ago she had a mild case of covid, and didn't want food, and would only eat certain things. She would only eat very little. Now she eats more, but some foods she will not eat at all. It's very sad to see my mom go through this! She repeats herself over, and over, and over etc. until it's bed time. Then she is quiet!

So what if the said patient/family member is in active opioid addiction could the stages and symptoms be more severe and staggered among stages
@BailieHillman Жыл бұрын
Tammy, yes the symptoms may vary with opioid use. Opioid users are at a higher risk of cognitive decline. They may also be suffering from “medication fog.”

How does a doctor know you have it? What tells them it is dementia and not Alzheimer disease.
@BailieHillman Жыл бұрын
DeeAnn, they typically diagnose based off symptoms. Alzheimer disease is a type of dementia. Just like breast cancer is a type of cancer. If the diagnosis is dementia then they are just not specifying a type.
@gregorypasternack8337 Жыл бұрын
The way they tell is that each is related to degradation of different parts of the brain. MRI and other imagery shows losses in different areas. Also, neuro psych testing includes different challenges that set apart the causes. Finally, Alzheimer has more medical tests that identify it.
@BailieHillman Жыл бұрын
@@gregorypasternack8337 Thank you for your answer. An MRI can absolutely show shrinkage and give information about the areas of the brain that are being impaired causing symptoms. Unfortunately, more times than not physicians are just labeling based off of symptoms and a simple cognitive test unless further testing is requested by the individual or their loved one. What is typically seen in many cases is a diagnosis of dementia with or without behavior disturbances. Hopefully one day in depth testing will be the norm for all types of dementia. We are slowly getting closer!

Cathy, there is a technique called spaced retrieval that may help. I will try and do a video on it soon to help explain how to decrease the question asking. Can you give me some examples of questions she asks.

I am not willing to be my spouse’s caregiver at this point. He is fine so far, but I want to shriek outloud at what is ahead. Why is it a given that the spouse is the automatic caregiver. I’ve had no training in this area. I will not clean up poop. I do not cook worth a damn.
