This might be a relatively old video, but it's worth mentioning the Chateau d'Onterre, from DA: Inquisition. Exploring the Emerald Graves and stumbling upon the Chateau was great. It might not be that scary, but I got chills when I first went in and one of my companions said "It knows we're here". It's pretty cool exploring and uncovering the disaster behind the "haunting".
@laureno41087 жыл бұрын
Chateau d'Onterre in Dragon Age Inquisition always gives me the creeps. Its full of corpses and the fires start burning by themselves as you walk near. Codex entries you find tells the story behind it - a father tried to bribe a Templar because his daughter was a mage and he wanted to uphold his family name. He kept throwing parties in the house (which presumably his daughter wasnt invited to) and one day the girl befriended a demon and they decided to improve a party by having everyone dance themselves to death... and then the guests became possessed corpses. The demon suggested to try more 'games' which involved possession. The girl became an Arcane Horror which you fight at the end of the quest. Not nightmare-inducing at all, nooooooo :P

And another thing... What about, like, ANY home in The Sims? I mean, at any point your bathroom could vanish right when you need it most or the ladder leading out of your pool causing mass drownings at your holiday cookout. How does that construction company stay in business? I'll tell you how. Nobody who owns one of their homes, nor ANY of their friends and family, is left alive.
@michellee11907 жыл бұрын
Also, on the subject of "haunted plus crazy puzzles to navigate" let's talk about 7th Guest shall we? There was that puzzle with the heart and the pipes and the reward for setting it to the correct configuration was a pool of blood spreading across the floor. And another one where you have to watch the ghost of an old lady getting really upset at her inability to... organize some soup cans to her satisfaction. So the only way to put her spirit to rest is to find the missing can so the pantry can be perfectly organized. ... and on top of it all, the owner of the house was a CREEPY TOYMAKER THAT MADE CREEPY TOYS THAT KILLED CHILDREN.
@michellee11907 жыл бұрын
AND ANOTHER THING about homes in Skyrim! Let's talk about Hearthfire and the dubious wisdom of choosing Windstad Manor in Hjaalmarch as your home, particularly if you've adopted children. Firstly, your kids are afraid all the time and they say so. I mean sure, you get a fish hatchery, but trolls and undead are always trampling on your outdoor garden! Lakeview is MUCH better... I mean sure, there's the occasional giant that shows up. But the kids never complain about it. They just get to work, attacking the giant in close quarters combat with the improved, vampiric, toy swords I gave them! We kill those giants together. Me, Meeko, my kids, my Steward, and my werewolf husband. Quality family time.

I know both games haven’t aged well, but the Louisiana mansion from Alone in the Dark and the Old mansion named “Hell’s Kitchen” in Alone in the Dark 2 all I could say is the first one you’re trying to escape from the other one you’re trying to do a rescue mission and both are trying to kill you
@bittgrundy5 жыл бұрын
And include Covenant Manor from Clive Barker’s Undying, all you’re doing here is answering a letter from an old war friend Jeremiah and visiting him at his estate, three out of four of his young siblings are dead and yet they all want him dead for some reason even from beyond the grave even the one that is still alive, and you Patrick Galloway the main protagonist of this adventure are caught in the middle of this sibling feud

The Covenant Manor from Clive Barker's Undying. I wouldn't even spend the day there really. Ghosts, demon beasts killing off the staff, doors and portals to alternate dimensions, raiding gypsies, family curses! More tragedy in that place than you can shake a stick at.

I would like to add that it's impossible to go all the way around on a chain swing, but considering I'm criticizing the realism of a game where the family home looks like Pablo Picasso's take on Pee Wee's playhouse it might be something of a moot point.
@SecretAgentNein7 жыл бұрын
No, it's not? I've seen kids do it. Unless "chain swing" means something different to us. I used to hate it when they did that because someone had to climb up and lift the swing back over so it would hang the right way again and I just wanted to be able to swing in peace. I would think it's impossible to go all the way around in such a smooth and gentle motion as shown in the game, though. Everyone I've seen do it always did a weird jump at the end to get the swing to go over the top and then they usually fell off the swing.

Animal Crossing you have anthropomorphic animals that walk around on two legs and talk and stuff, and this raccoon that you immediately owe money to, the second you move into the town. Other characters come and go and you never hear from them again. Then there's the fact that you can't move out of the town yourself, even if you do pay off your house, you're trapped in this small town forever. Also the Sims in that you can make some really strange houses you don't want to live in (trap houses, etc) or for pre-made horror there's that Tricou house where every previous occupant is dead, and also Olive's house in Strangetown and whatever house the Goth family occupies in your current game, which is bound to feature corpses in the yard and a dark motif.

What about your family's ancestral manor in Darkest Dungeon? "Opulent and imperial" sounds nice enough, but considering it's crawling with the undead, crazed cultists and worse, I think I'll pass. The surrounding countryside isn't much better, swarming as it is with hideous mutated pigmen and the ugliest mermaids you've ever seen.

You could probably do a whole video on this just from the Elder Scrolls. I'll nominate that apartment under the lighthouse that the Dark Brotherhood traitor in Oblivion lives in, the house on Solstheim in Skyrim with the creepy Dwemer mind control basement, the house in Markarth that the vigilant is trying to investigate (but nobody in town remembers), and Morvayn Manor in Morrowind.

How about the West Mansion from Splatterhouse II? The opening intro highlights corpses hanging from the trees outside, there's a reeking swamp full of howling monsters to fight through and when you DO get inside the fun really begins. By fun I mean more howling monsters. Terrible brickwork too, the place is literally falling apart.

Creepy stuff in every room, full-motion video ghostly drama, and no shortage of headache-inducing puzzles. You _will_ be wanting some paracetamol when playing this game. That, or you'll get stuck and have to look up a walkthrough.
