Life is good when you're not flaring! I recently had to take prednisone and mesalamine enemas to recover, but this worked. I think I'll ask my gastroenterologist if I should take a maintenance dose of mesalamine enemas to avoid flares in the future. We'll see! -Living a healthy lifestyle is not optional. It's mandatory and it's not a burden! 🙂

Yes. I’m sure most of us have had to use some prescription drugs at some point. Even to get out of a flare. No one is perfect at living a healthy lifestyle all the time. But keep it up. Hope you get back to healthy. 🙏🏽😊

@@cmastre1 Thanks! I'm feeling almost 100%. I really liked how you said it's important to have a mental plan for how to deal with UC. And then when things go wrong, then adjust your plan.

Thank you 🙏🏽. It took a lot. The mental battle was probably harder than the physical at times. So glad to hear. I love hearing success stories.

Hey bro, so do you have a strategy on foods and supplements that will fight off inflammation?? I wake up a lot of mornings with my stomach feeling inflamed and uncomfortable... also sometimes when I have greens like broccoli I feel discomfort in my belly, and very very gassy! Is there anything you recommend for inflammation on the stomach.. the pain comes and goes but sometimes it can be very annoying, especially lately since I’ve been feeling it days in a row.. don’t know if you’ve had that feeling before??? Hope you can get back at me and have a great weekend :)

Hey buddy. Sorry for the delay. I have had a ton of things going on and meant to reply sooner. I do really try to stay away from foods that don’t agree with me. Broccoli is ok with me. From time to time I get gassy with it. But I don’t miss my shakes in the morning. I do juicing at least once a week and I don’t really cheat a lot. Maybe one meal a week or at a family dinner or birthday party. But for the most part I keep it clean. In the beginning. I had to do process of elimination. I ate very simple. No seasonings on anything. I would only eat salmon or chicken breast. Boiled carrots and rice. I would do my shakes and juice. Than after things got under control I would slowly start introducing 1 food at a time. If it didn’t sit well I would stay away from it. Keep a food journal. Be precise. Stay disciplined. Anti inflammatory foods like turmeric and ginger root I use in everything. I would cook with them as well. I also did fasts regularly. 2-3 days at a time. At least every 2 weeks. Wanted to give my body a chance to heal. I hope that helps a bit bro. It sucks. But I know that the discipline was the hardest part. Let me know if you need anything else.

I forgot to ask. I know you smoothies in the morning only mainly. Do you eat lunch? Or do intermitten fasting and then do dinner when get home from work? Also if you do dinner do also do another smoothie? I apologize so many questions. I had a smoothie early morning and I usually do an intermittent fasting, then dinner once i get home but I wonder if I do need to do another smoothie with dinner? In the mornings alone the smoothie is good but I am really hungry. I know you mentioned that you have something light like scramble eggs which I'll be doing. Thank you!🙌

So I do do fasting but obviously you can not do that everyday. So I try to keep my meals simple and easily digestible. For instance a day might look like this. Smoothie in morning for breakfast with psyllium husk and my Imodium. Lunch might be steamed/boiled carrots mash potatoes and chicken breast Dinner might be a piece of salmon mash potatoes boiled steamed broccoli (keep in mind broccoli might not be the best) but I try to mix up my veggies as to not get bored. I lightly season my food trying not to over do it but keeping some flavor. Hope that helps
