Cyan and magenta would be a great addition as well! You can make bright purples, greens, and oranges. Think of a printer! Also, adding the opposite color to another will create a more natural darker color, as opposed to adding black. To make a dark red, adding green will darken it a little better and hold its true color! You can also make red from yellow and magenta and darken in with a little green with black :) I studied colors in school, the primary colors are really Cyan, magenta, and yellow. Crazy that schools only teach the "regular" primary colors :(

For beginners advanced color theory can be a little much. Hence the basics, but yes there is room for experimentation and more learning which is the fun part.

@@TheNailHub Exactly! Red, green and blue are perfect starter colors for nail gels and painting, alike. Color theory is a beautiful thing, with so many variations! Dark 'primary' colors, light 'primary' colors, cyan and magenta 'primary' colors, the list is endless. I am a painter, photographer, nail artist, etc so I see colors so differently than others! I guess you can relate!

I just got pigments to add to my nail art. I dont know what yo do with them now that theyve arrived. I did mix a tiny bit with top coat just to see but could i do it with gel? Would it need to be white gel? Or would the pigment be opaque enough in clear. I suckk at color theories and have been trying to pair chunky glitters together (thinking blue, because its cold outside) but have no clue what to pair with it for dimension. I have the rainbow in chunky holo glitters. Instead of buying the rainbow i should have bought premixed glitters. I have a chartreuse green,forest green, magenta and a bit of silver in a st pattys day mix and i love it so much. What are good "wintery" shades that go together?

That's a good one! The only thing I'd add, for beginners, the nude color is a must. And of course, you can make your own perfect nude, but when we're talking about big amounts, I prefer just buying one. Also, in my opinion, without neon yellow and pink you won't be able to make some great colors, so these two are also a must.

Yes. Line Gels usually refer to it having a stretchy formula which is great for little details and characters. They aren't sometimes good for blending or for more swirly ethereal soft designs but it highly depends on the brand.

What a wonderful video. Great job Liz. Thanks to you my nail has gotten so much better but I still experience chipping and peeling of some of the gel on my right thumb and pointer finger. I am right handed and my hands are constantly in water. My nails are naturally strong but I applied a flexible hard gel base on my nail and continued with base coat and color, then top coat but still get peeling after 3-4 days. Pls help, what am I doing wrong??
@TheNailHub5 жыл бұрын
If it's only happening on a couple of fingers it sounds like you're doing a great job but those certain fingers are getting more wear and tear. One thing I would suggest is to put forms on just those fingers when you do your nails so you can make tiny extensions as you apply each layer. It will help to put extra capping on those nails. With soak off gels especially they can wear down so if you only have a thin amount capping your nails you are most likely wearing through that and it is leading to separation. Try creating more of a buffer with your gel.

I know that this is off topic and has nothing to do with the video; but why do gels have inhibition layers? I've noticed that the products products I use-Kiara Sky and Born Pretty-only have them when not fully cured. Does this mean that once/if fully cured the gels will not have this? Because, I've also noticed that when the inhibition layer is removed, a bit of the Polish is also removed.
