Wow, I just did my 1 year review video of my 450RL and you took the words right outta my mouth! I feel like I'm in the minority whenever I said you don't need an ECU to ride the thing and service intervals while shorter than others is not that bad and worth the reliability in the long run. I think people are dumping them on the used market after throwing money at it because they think its a dual sport so it'll be easy to manage but forget that it's from a 450R and it's scaring them away in favor of something more mellow. Good stuff my friend!

WOW!! Great review. Finally, someone that tells the truth! My 2019 model will be in its third season of riding this year. It's completely stock, motor wise. Has more power than I use, but the strong bottom end and midrange come in very handy to loft the front wheel when needed. Ended up changing the chain at 1200 kms because it was kinking already. I reused the sprockets, but put a D.I.D. ERVT chain on. Radiator guards are a good idea too. I sometimes carry a fuel bladder if I need more range. I then have 13 litres, 300-350 km range, less off road. Again, excellent review! ❤

I got one a few months ago. Got the Vortex ECU, FMF Q4 with the header of the RX, Dunlop 606 tires and remove most of the crap I don't need (plastic covers, etc), put smaller mirrors, smaller LED turn lights. Right now the weight is 275lbs with a full tank of fuel. Originally it was 289lbs. Still heavier than a KTM but I have longer maintenance intervals and Honda reliability. 😉 Trying Metzeler or Pirelli tires next. Maybe it loose a few more pounds.

In one of those clips, were you riding Mormon well road at the DNWR? I've considered doing it on my 250L but I don't want to drive from centennial hills to the visitor center on 95 on my 250L. It doesn't have enough power 😂

Honest review, but the weight of the KTM's listed are always minus fuel. Add an IMS 3.2G full of premium and a 350/500 isn't SO much heavier than a CRF, especially when guys are getting the CRF under 280 with mods. You also forgot to add how GOOD the stock Showa forks and shock are compared to the KTM's split function forks. Converting the KTM forks is a common, albeit expensive mod which also adds weight. While it is not a expert trail/ enduro bike the CRF is still THE premier desert bike. They've owned it for years and wrote the book on it. Older, fast guys still love them to roost all over BDR/ TAT/ BLM roads with the confidence of a Honda under them.

Great vid Brotha, I was interested in the crf450 RL, but almost 2000.0 just to make it run correct on top of the almost 11,000 OTD price there's a lot of competition for 13k
@MobMoto
@MobMoto Жыл бұрын
The ktms are $2000 more and cost the same to open up and uncork them as well. The Honda is the same as the ktm in that they don't need mods but are a way better experience if you do.

The suspension is something like 10 million times more compiant than the frame. (Just a guess). Also, the engine is solidly bolted into the frame in at least 4 spots around the parimeter of the engine (see gusset plate). The engine isnt flexing anytime soon. Not sure where the frame is going to flex
@MobMoto
@MobMoto 10 ай бұрын
the engines are all mounted the same on these bikes, ktm uses a steal frame and its known to flex more, the suspension is going to compensate for any frame flex not happening, but all of it has an effect on rider comfort and chassis performance. Just adjusting torque settings on the bolts mounting the engine has an effect on frame flex. Its also something a beginner rider is not gonna feel.

Can anyone tell me if the previous year 450RL slip ons work with the 2023? Or if the “2019-2023” CRF 450 X/L/RL slip ons (or full exhaust) will actually work on the 2023? I’m getting conflicting answers everywhere and don’t want to have my buddy order one that ends up not fitting. Hard to find anything that specifically says it fits 2023 RL

I was the same way. I followed Facebook pages of both bikes for a year and did a ton of research before I bought my 450l. Definitely made the right decision for me. And if your wondering what really made me pick the Honda was the reliability. Not saying the ktm wasn't reliable but it seemed like there was a lot more people complaining of problems on the ktm vs the Honda. Good luck with your pick and remember that whatever you go with it will most likely be fun.

Comfort is a big one. The Husq/KTM has an unbelievable amount of vibration. Your hands, feet, and ass will go numb very quick. I cannot imagine being on this bike for an hour or two on the road. Or even a full day at the trails. The Honda has a lot more vibration than something like a KLX250 or the other CRF bikes, but still a fraction of the Husq/KTM.
