Thank you for your interesting point of view as a foreigner. I am a 100% Japanese and totally agree with the last one. My analysis is that people here feel some level of fatigue by promotion like "Japan is a beautiful country" and pressure like "we should be nice and kind". However, it is good thing for us that many foreigner come to Japan and I hope we can find good balance someday.

Hi Ebi, I was in Japan for 6 weeks (Chiba) during mid July to end of August (stinky hot Summertime) and I really felt like I stuck out as I was one of a minute number of Gaijin in my area. Unlike in Tokyo's busiest districts, nobody spoke any English and sometimes I made some mistakes ordering food or couldn't understand what they were asking me which sometimes meant I got orders mixed up, same happened at a Bento store lol. I too am Australian (Sydney) Male but am over 60, wife is Japanese. We were over there for Family visit and the documentation to get a visa was enormous but at the same time, it was also good that we weren't rushed with so many Tourists. I feel that local Japanese food workers, shop keepers, places in tourists areas could get overwhelmed by the instant crowds that would be there after October 11, I just hope they can cope. Thanks for your video Ebifried, looking forward to your following videos. If you get a chance to visit Kamagawa Ocean World in Chiba, do so because it's one of the very few places in the world where you can see the big Orca Whales perform, but if you get seats near the whale pool, make sure you buy a Poncho coz ya gonna get very wet😂

Hi David! Oh, when I said there’s a lot more English I just meant signage and like those digital menus will usually have an English option oops, I should’ve clarified HAHA i’m still new to making youtube videos 😅 Wow i’ll check out Kamagawa Ocean World! I am a boycotter of sea world though so i’ll have to see the conditions >_< i’m picky about supporting places that “work with animals” lol but I definitely want to explore more of Chiba! Thanks for your comment 😄
@davidjohnston13742 жыл бұрын
@@ebifried They do a lot of scientific research at Kamagawa and it costs a lot of money to not only feed those big sea creatures (you should see the buckets of fish they eat during each performance) and then all the staff and other sea creatures. So they have to get people to come in, pay entrance fees (not sure how much coz B-I-L paid for them) There was 6 of us. Also visit Chiba City and see the upside down Mono-rail. And you must visit the Narita temple and it's gardens and surrounds, absolutely stunning.

Thanks for the Tips! did you notice if restaurants close early as well?
@ebifried2 жыл бұрын
Closing times are fine and you can easily check on google for that 😄 but I think for the more popular/themed restaurants you should definitely check if you can book in advance and do that!

omg, THANK YOU this video is so helpful because it's so honest! I have a question on app payment - I know it's convenient to scan the QR and pay but are there transaction fees? Since it's drawing the money from an international bank account. Like you, my last trip to Japan was long ago and they still used mostly cash.

I should’ve mentioned that for iPhone you’ll have to change region to Japan before you can use Suica and Paypay 😭 Suica there is a fee but it’s quite good/ better than exchanging currency rates most of the time! What I suggest is finding a service from your country that has no fees- the one I use from Australia is called Up! No fees when you withdraw cash from ATMs or use the credit card or use it as apple pay! I’m sure there’s something like that for other countries 👀

3:48 Everything closes at 9pm! Noo that makes me so sad lol. The night is the best. 1:00 More cashless payment woo! I think lots of parts of Asia have the same story. It's a very good thing. Lots of places i didn't expect to go cashless have follow suit. I'm surprised Japan wasn't already ahead of the trend and gone cashless years ago.
