Nice video! I would add: Teach your Boerboel puppy ‘paws on the floor’. An adult Boerboel paw playfully swiping you is like getting hit with a spiked club. ‘Paws on the floor’ also helps teach them to not jump on you.

People always say the obvious: [dont kick, punch and beat a dog]. But, you have to spank a large disobedient dog when they test you or continuously ignore you. People seems to be afraid to mention any level of physical scolding in the dog community, even though it's almost always a requirement for giant dog breeds. Theres some doggos that are born loving to please, but those are the exceptions, not the standards of what a giant breeds are.

Bro you did a great job on this one! I get so tired of people trying to treat their dog like a human and just let them do whatever they want. They just let the dog drag them all around when on a walk and pamper and baby them. Dogs take on a weird nature after this type of treatment. Great video, hope it helps someone. My good friend has one, Drogo. We met when he was about a year n a half n we became instant buddies. He doesn't like everyone so basically he calls the shots on who gets to come the yard. But if he likes u he loves u. I've always had big dogs so I'm good with them n he can tell. Went thru a rough patch last year so I was stayin in his basement. Me n Drogo became inseparable, he would protect me if it came down to it to the point where he wouldn't even let girls hug me lol. We'd do shit together all day n when it was time to go to sleep or pass out drunk, he waited for me to get tucked in and hop on the couch N lay between my legs. The best buddy! Gonna go see him Monday for the Bills game

Appreciate my G. He's light tan w the black mask. When u first see him u wouldn't expect him to be so goofy. And with me, zero food protection. The only thing is his "mom"... A high pitched voice, over reacting first time dog owner that doesn't know how to raise him right. I had to teach him some things or calm him down because he's really not being raised right for a dog like him. I had a Shiloh Shepard for 13 years, a silver sable plush coat name Joey lol. He's the smartest dog I ever met. He had multiple stuffed animals n toys that he knew the names of them.... Drogo is the second smartest, honestly I wish he was mine ask that he could fulfill his full potential smh

I have had Rotts most of my adult life. Thinking of getting boerboel is the training and energy levels similar. I also have a six year male Belgian Malinois good with other dogs will this be a problem as boerboel gets older. We want a female as will be less tensions between the dogs even though they will both be fixed. Also I have small grand kids 4 & 3 that visit. I hear Boerboels are good with kids is this true. My main question is it much different than owning a Rottweiler

I thank you, but have to say that this applies to any dog. Though more to boerboels due to their size, strength and character. It's my belief that anyone that has a boerboel without having this knowledge, simply don't have the basic knowledge about dogs they should have had before getting a boerboel. Or any other kind of challenging dogs for that matter.

Very good mate!! For the training were you using a slip collar? New subscriber from England used to have a DDB(passed away) my Boerboel puppy arrives from Portugal(Elite Boarboels) on the 6th of Feb so prepping up on as much breed info as possible. Unfortunately most of the so called experts on KZbin seem to do little more than parrot the breed standard info from Wikipedia. Look forward to the next instalment.

Dont ever beat your Boerboel , it will remember , they have fantastic memories and a very good understanding of you , your family (your pack) and your place (its territory) , they are a natural protector , but when its protector (you) goes bad , one day he will have had enough and the results will be disasterous for you . I know , I also have a 100 kg boerboel male , I have never beat him , he is now 3 and a half years old , he know everything going on and he makes his mind up what he lets slide and what not , he is a loving and lovable dog but you dont want to be on the wrong side of him . Ps , there are 2 specific traits that you need to asertain with any of the 5 types of Boerboel , is it a classic ( non aggresive ) or an aggressive ( security work ) dog , neither need bite training or any form of attack work training . They will both do the same thing when they are in protect mode . Remember , Boerboels crush wild hog skulls in one bite , killing the hog . They need no training for that either , neither do they need training to take on African preditors . Usually , you waste your time and money trying to make your Boerboel into a show dog , they are work dogs and that is what they are , not your toy for your local dogs and coffee meeting .

Collars are so important, don’t use a shoe string collar on a 75-100 plus Pounds sized dogs, or some huge spike collar on the pup but it’s not a working dog doesn’t have predators just a house pet. Like this is common sense most. And most as long as it’s corrected isn’t a issue.

You would be surprised how often I see dogs without collars and behaving like wild dogs. The collar helps keep them under control and earn privileges

And not surprised at all, I to see people treat their dogs like their just mid behaved children, no discipline, no training, nothing to make sure the dog, and their surroundings are safe. The worst is when people giggle and say he/she is just a puppy still, meanwhile it’s over a year, and they don’t realize, they are missing crucial training time, and giving the pup the tools to behave safely in public. Sad thing the dog breed is the one that gets the bad name when things go wrong. I have 5 terrier rescues, (Pits) that was never trained, deemed violent, everyone of them are now happy, gentle loving pups who get along with all my pups. I can even leave them with baby chicks and not one would be harmed. It’s always the owners fault in my opinion.
