Mario couldn't get over that experience, to the point where his dreams were haunted by similar adventures (Mario Dreamland and Super Mario Bros 2). Miyamoto even confirmed that Super Mario Bros 3 was a stage play. Mario 64 is obviously the movie adaptation of the play, and Paper Mario is a cartoon spinoff. Odyssey was Mario testing the release of an ARG headset that lets people play as him first-person. Mario retired as an adventurer in the 80s and became a hollywood producer. It makes perfect sense.

Castlevania has a couple of doozies. In Harmony of Dissonance, the Castle exists in two layers of reality, and you can achieve 100% map completion in each separate layer for a total of 200% completion. Which is cute and all, but then Portrait of Ruin lets you achieve 1,000% map completion. There's even a stage in that game that only unlocks when your map completion reaches 888%.

Players counted all the points, and nope, was impossible without playing multiplayer even though BioWare said it was possible with only playing the base game. They never admitted that they made a mistake there, but they did fix it in one of the patches. Still, what a mistake to make.

The majority of Tekken characters could fill this list, just look at the amount of enemies: - The Mishima internal feud + Lee + Lars + Kazumi - The relation some of the Mishimas have with the Kazamas, bringing them into the conflict. - Anna and Nina - Yoshimitsu and Kunimitsu - Nina and her assassination targets - king, marduk and armor king - Eddy Gordo and Kazuya - Leo and Kazuya - Yoshimitsu and Bryan Fury There are even more feuds than these ones. All of them can play the mini games of the titles they are in, like normal friends. They could play volley, bowling etc. And some of these characters even hang with each other in canon, like we see Anna and Nina do in almost all of their endings or like the Mishimas and Kazamas. In tag tournament 2 the Mishimas go from fun activities like launching each other from space back to earth, to having a family lunch with the Kazamas. The Kazamas are best peacekeppers in the world for making the Mishima clan stop infighting to enjoy a meal together.

And I think the family dinner ending you're thinking of is Lars' ending in which it was a nightmare he had on a helicopter flight, so unfortunately even within its own narrative that event did not really happen. But now that you've got me remembering those, I love how there's one where it turns out all the old men in the tournament, from the Russian scientists to the Monégasque butlers, form a secret council of sorts and bicker over the best way to extend their lives.

Honestly, I wondered the same thing about Princess Peach vs. Boswer considering just how many times she gets kidnapped by him. Even with some acting involved, I'm pretty sure their kingdoms are still likely mortal enemies with each other over how often she gets kidnapped. He's literally tried to marry her against her will too!!! If that doesn't piss her off, I don't know what piss a princess off (well other than, if Luigi keeps leaving the toilet seat up while Mario is considerate there - that would get on any woman's nerves. This could explain why Peach picked Mario over him alone). Also, your rival and you in Pokemon whenever he says "Smell you later" in the early games, Red should have slapped Blue across the face without help from his Pokemon there.

Okay time for a crazy theory: The DOA EBV is part of Zack's doing either it's the alien mind control that curbs the violent aggression in humans or this all Zack's Dream sequence. Though the canon story of Zack rescuing Helena from top the fiery skyscraper with the help Candy, he could have convinced her to chill on the re-emerged sunk island that said aliens help bring back from the depths of the seas. I know crazy, this is why I'm leaning towards KO dream.

I like to imagine the Mario side games with enemies and friends taking time to compete with one another is something that started as a series of competitions proposed by Bowser to either win the Mushroom Kingdom or toat least demoralize them through defeat, and now it's just stuff people from all over the Marioverse join in on and nobody remembers why they started in the first place 😛

I'm gonna be disappointed if Scorpion and Sub-Zero aren't included in this list. They have a very rough history due to "Kung-Fu Treachery" but are more than willing to put aside their differences for the greater good at various points in the Mortal Kombat series. @@lnsflare1 Yeah, as of MK10 the two have made ammends. Sub Zero ackowledged the crimes of his clan and helped re-establish Scorpion's. Then in MK11 that version of Scorpion gets killed, only for a time travelled version of the old, angry evil Scorpion to need to be educated on what happened in that timeline to make them friends again. Now I've typed it out lke that it makes MK11 seem a bit pointless and dumb. Hmm...

@@Joe90h MK11 also ends in a potential hard reboot for the entire series. So who knows how the story will go after this point. MK9 and MK10 still explored this very bitter rivalry and how they agreed to make amends to each other and work together.

Personal headcannon is that Bowser and Peach have been trying to scam the mushroom kingdom for years and the oddly combat competent plumber on shrooms keeps screwing things up, but since Mario has been doing shrooms for so long, his permanent hallucination just makes sense of go karting and playing sports with Bowser as part of fighting him.

Hating someone can be pretty exhausting, so perhaps these spin-offs are them taking a break from their various vengeance... or in some cases, a sneaky means to find weaknesses to exploit down the road. Always nice to see varied game character casts get a chance to interact through the occasional spin-off. 0:39 - I had thought it odd that Kasumi and Ayane were being so friendly that I overlooked the far stranger case of Helena and Christie being able to interact on anything close to friendly terms. 3:50 - Given Super Mario Bros 3 theatre stage theme (and Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door), this acting/actor thing makes a lot of sense.
