If this is the birth of a Lovett-Ira feud, I can only hope that the Ryan Murphy miniseries about it is half as compelling as the real events.

When Conservatives say "keep politics out of the Oscars", what they are actually saying is: "don't make political statements that I disagree with".

I’m a conservative and that’s not what I’m saying when I say keep politics out of it. What I mean is that I’m fine with diversity in film. I actually encourage that. But when it’s preached so much it feels forced like when they do stuff like they do, all I see is “HEY WE’RE DIVERSE PLEASE LIKE US.”

Actors are inherently empathetic and compassionate -- it's how they're able to do their work in the first place. Unfortunately, there are far too many people in the world that still cling to generational lies in the face of logic & reason. This year, Regina King's short commentary on the Floyd murder trial was a "controversy." It wouldn't surprise me if the statements were clipped during a rebroadcast or if certain regions censored her words. Apparently the relevant and relatable perspective of a black mother is just too much to handle. 🙄 One thing I will say about this year's awards is how lame the 'In Memoriam' segment was; most of them went by so quickly you could barely register what you were seeing. What purpose did that serve -- to cut down on running time?? If so, I suggest they go back to the drawing board on that one.

@@rosepetal34 "instead of giving them to" It's the director's call, if they feel a particular person is suited to conveying a particular character/storyline then.....they get the role.
@rosepetal34
@rosepetal34 3 жыл бұрын
@@telectronix1368 I’m not necessarily saying that straight people can’t ever play gay and bi roles (I don’t think cisgender people should ever play trans roles though) its just that James Cordens portrayal of gay characters is awful/, seen very differing opinions on this from directors and writers, Russell t Davis who is probably the most famous/ prolific gay tv writer/ producer in the UK now refuses to cast straight actors for gay roles
@telectronix1368
@telectronix1368 3 жыл бұрын
@@rosepetal34 Tbf the character is written as an extreme personality, it's not as if the role was meant to be a reserved, bookish type and Corden just.......made it gay. 😁 Personally I don't think any actor 'should' not play any role or type, other than race (and more because there is so much history of conflict and mistreatment that it just causes more problems) as long as the director feels they can convey the reality of that character and story.
