Thanks for the tips Tim.. I got to put everything to the test last weekend. I'm in Wisconsin and we had a bizzard roll in and took out our power for 64 hours. I have a firman tri fuel and was able to run it on Natural gas. Started right up and thought all was good. Everything worked but the furnace. Ya.. Hard lesson learned. High efficiency furnaces hate dirty power. I'm replacing my generator with an Champion 9k inverter.

You might try using a line reactor.

I've heard a lot of newer starter fluids have lubricant which mitigates the ether dissolving the oil film on the cylinder walls.

Tip 1, don't live where it gets extremely cold 😂.

I've also heard to be cautious using it with glow plugs - wonder if anyone has ever had a problem? Also, use very sparingly. I've also heard to blow a hair dryer into the intake. Just told my wife I need a gas powered hair dryer. She looked at me kinda funny.

I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT USE STARTER FLUID... YOUR Carburetor WILL CATCH FIRE AND YOU WILL BLOW OUT YOUR SPARK PLUG. YOUR IDEA ISN'T SMART
