Excellent video! For financial reasons I thrifted my clothes for years and then went to shop the regular stores. However I found that I had more style, more edge when thrifting so I went back to it! I can really pick clothes that I love, not clothes that are trending at the moment!!!

Very interesting. I am a mature woman and I like to be unexpectedly fashionable. I haven’t given in to older fashion just because I am over 50. So, I appreciate you take on fashion. Very fresh and applicable to any style. I love high heals and a polished look, yet you idea of contrast is awesome. As was the idea of adding something unexpected like Winnie the Pooh. Keep up your style. You can teach an old dog.

I absolutely LOVE your channel. I haven’t seen anyone else that has your point of view. I have been struggling to figure out my personal style. I spent much of my life trying to balance out my love of edge, casual and boho. Dropped the boho lol, I think it was a comfortable nod to my youth. In you, I have finally found someone whose style is close to mine. It is challenging as I am aging to not end up with a “safe” haircut; “safe age appropriate “ clothes. So so agree…hair and shoes set the outfit for me.

The hair style I wear really does seem to make or break my look. I’m just over three weeks into my last hair cut and it’s lost it’s definition so I’m wearing a cap right now, something I’ve never worn before but I just bought one in plain black and it does the trick to tidy things up until I can get my next cut. One other thing I do to enhance my style relates to my lifestyle choices. I exercise and I eat well and stay hydrated. I also like to maintain positive state of mind too. What’s the point of dressing well if you look unhealthy and miserable?

I really appreciate your view on makeup. I wear minimal makeup for special events, but most of the time I just get my eyebrows tinted and call it good with a bit of lip balm. If I'm having a bad skin day, I might use a tinted moisturizer instead of my regular moisturizer. I feel more confident with visible eyebrows but no makeup than I do in a full face and I think it works with my daily look, which is very casual.

Hello Emily, Great video, thank you! You are so refreshing! I like your definition of edgyness, the idea of something daring, not a sum up of so called edgy items. One year ago I stopped dyeing my hair, and since then my hair style has become much more important. As my style is quite simple (jeans, jumper, blaser and oxford shoes), with my grey curly hair, just a few extra cm around the ears can turn an edgy 50ish daring woman into an invisible boring lady. At least, that's how I may feel before and after a pixie refresh!

I loooove Alyssa too!! Both of your styles always have edge but as you definitely drove the point home, the edge is different in that you both carry different vibes with your separate brands of edge. Emily, you bring on more of an "urban chic" vibe while Alyssa has a little more of an "Americana with nods to boho" vibe. But both beautifully thought-out and intentionally put together just the same!!

Shoes make or break an outfit and the vibe you’re going for 💕 agreed on the hair too. I’m growing out a short pixie now because I felt like it limited me a bit. At the age of 60 (I'm 62) it finally hit me that just because I like it doesn't mean it's for me. Give me jeans, boots or sneakers a chunky shoe, (must have) a hoop, the right top (I have more tops than anything) and I'm happy! You have no idea how much your videos have helped me.

Your videos are consistently terrific, and this one is no exception. Everything is right on, specific, and incredibly helpful. Much of this was stuff I was already doing, but there were insights that helped me to understand how to up my game. Even when it was something I knew, I didn't necessarily know why it worked for me, or how to make it more consistent. Like figuring out which shoes up my edge game and looking for that quality first, and creating a wardrobe of shoes that consistently make me feel the way I want to feel. (Want to wear a summer dress that is a little more twee than I'm generally comfortable with? Have chunky platform sandals to balance out the twee/edge.) Also, when you introduced the makeup segment, I was thinking: the thing to do is tell people to consider wearing less makeup, a red lip only, sort of thing. And what did you do? You suggested people consider not wearing makeup! I'm in my 60s. I can't go full Patti Smith because I'm not Patti Smith ;0), and in the summer, when not in a white shirt and jeans, I enjoy colour and movement. (In the winter my wardrobe is very much like yours - buttoned up shirts with popped collars are me.) So this video really helped me to understand how to keep echos of Patti in there 'round the seasons. Ok, toooooo long! Really just wanted to say: Thanks!
