I was homeless for 3 years off and on in the cities of Portland in a blond woman in a wheelchair, for safety I'd be awake at night try to sleep during the day, wash my hair in the sink in the woman's bathroom in Safeway, God protected me so many times, I thought it was it he would always direct me to safety, now finally having a place of my own, I thank Jesus for a roof over my head, and food in the fridge, and water to drink every single day, never take anything for granted, never give up, God bless you, not everybody's homeless story is because of drugs and alcohol some people have lost their families and cannot handle life and get lost or lost their homes and don't know where to go so always pray for each other

daily reminder to treat your local homeless folks with as much kindness and respect as you would your neighbor. they're the same as you and me, just dealt different cards in life. be smart and aware of yourself when you're sending them a smile as they are still strangers, just ones with no place to call home. :)

Story 4 was heartbreaking. People treat the homeless as if they're nothing. That's not true. They're human beings. They have feelings too. Just because a person is homeless doesn't mean they deserve to be treated badly. No one knows the back story of how they became homeless. So don't be so quick to judge them and treat them badly. You never know, it could happen to you. Be kind to each other.

Same globally. And any acknowledgement of homeless folks is the same as money. More than appreciated. I know homelessness. But i did it in a hidden way because you cant trust people, society and have to hide from or avoid those scumbag police. I managed to stay off the actual city streets like many of them do. I did it and appeared clean and well dressed and found some way to get cash. You have to bend the so called rules and think only of survival and getting out of it. Secrecy is the key. It's a cold heartless world out there and i saw homelessness coming for a long time, so i was ready. Everybody needs to be because you are on your own in this world. Fact!

Try to get into transitional housing man. I'm currently in transitional housing waiting to get into a treatment center here soon, abusing alcohol and opioids screwed me over. Luckily I'm back in contact with my family, January 11th-april 10th of this year was hell but things are finally looking up and I hope they're looking up for you now too, 2 years later. Keep ya head up bro, being homeless is hell. The 1-2 hours of sleep I was getting each night tore me up, I went a bit crazy a few times, I broke down a few other times. But someone or something is looking out for me.

Yeah I've been looking through the comments to see if anyone else is talking about the serial killer. It sounds very recent and it's scary with how covid has made it worse on people losing their jobs and a place to call home. It makes them even more susceptible to crime. I know homeless are easy targets because not a lot of people care and hearing these stories makes that all the more eye opening.

Well it's 2 years later and apparently still nothing. The story strikes me as odd because OP is trying to make this into a huge, shocking spectacle when the fact that homeless people being frequently targeted because of their high risk lives unfortunately isn't anything new. Also, although it definitely happens, OP isn't taking into account the countless other reasons why homeless folks can go off the map. He says he has evidence but never gives any examples, so it's no wonder he'd go to law enforcement and they'd brush his claims of all homeless people across America being killed by a squadron of serial killers.

We didn't have the best relationship but I miss him every day. I wish we could have been on better terms before he passed away. As someone who lives in a big downtown area with tons of homeless people everywhere, they aren’t all nice. Literally just got SCREAMED at by a homeless guy because my 5 month old puppy looked at him… a lot more stories like that tbh… and I was nice and caring before I moved downtown…but now that I have to deal with them multiple times a day I am afraid of them… too many bad experiences so far…

The ignorance people have when it comes to the homeless is so frustrating. They're not a whole other species, they're fucking human and being disgusted by them says more about you than them. And that girl who things she's going to change the world after only JUST finding out that people literally murder homeless people for sport is so niave it's insane. Homeless people, sex workers and "junkies" are never a priority for the police and that's exactly why people target them, they know no one will do anything about it and they'll get away with it. Look up Robert pickton and you'll see just a small glimpse into how people on the street are treated. Step up and treat others the way they deserve, not like strays in the street, if anything stray cats and dogs are cared for more than humans. Do some research and do what you can to help, not stereotype.

EXACTLY. You should see how alot of people treat them in this town that I live. Alot of people say "well they just need to get a job and pick themselves up etc.." And its true to an extent.. but they lack understanding and compassion.. they don't understand that it could happen to anybody and I mean anybody.. Some of those people had good jobs and families that love them , they're normal people. Who knows..they could have became addicted to drugs, they might have lost a loved one and fell into depression, they could have mental illness, lost their house in a fire or other natural disaster, etc.. There's a whole lot of reasons that a person becomes homeless. But you are very right; most people are cruel and/ or have no compassion or understanding towards what others go through. They just take for granted that they will always have a roof over their heads, and a meal on their plates

@@tazmaniandevil2335 Absolutely. My neighbor used to make over 200k a year, then he had an aneurysm that caused some brain damage, his wife left him and now he's on disability, just $950 a month. He's just one late rent check away from being on the streets, and I'm sure he never thought he'd be in this situation. He's such a kind genuine person, but too many people would think differently, those who don't know his story, or even care to know. This system isn't set up to care for people who truly need it. Maybe one day we'll take care of one another, acknowledge our privilege and ignorance and actually learn something. Okay, I'll get off my podium now. 😅😅 Thanks for commenting, too, it's nice to hear from people who actually give two fucks. 😄✌️

Well said. The problem for most people is that they have no experience of even a little suffering. So lack empathy and judge others. They also want to remain with their clique and may need to display such ignorant behaviour to be accepted by other arseholes. I made a comment about that particular story above. Tell me what think.👍
