OMG! Is that Tracktion as the DAW? (Or as I see it's called now, Tracktion Waveform.) I recognized the "plug-ins are at the end of the path" layout from when I got it as my first DAW with a Mackie Spike interface in 2005. I didn't do much with it, but did upgrade to Tracktion 3 in 2007 and remember a review that talked about how much better than Pro Tools it was. Good times. I had to abandon it - or more accurately Mackie abandoned me - when it was incompatible with Windows 7 and thus wouldn't work with my new rig I'd built in 2009. I discovered REAPER sometime late in the v.3.7x days (circa 2010-11) and have been using that since.

Hey, cool video! I think Waves has a lot of very good sounding plugins. Me, who doesnt have a lot of money, rely on free plugins or free giveaways from Waves. It is true tho that the sound is superior and that waves really nales it both with the price, GUI and CPU intensity of their plugins :D I have the H-Comp which, the Sibilance De-Esser and the Berzerk Distortion (got them all free) and im am very happy with them.

Beware you will not own the plugins you buy and you will have to pay Waves everytime you upgrade your MacOs for a update to your plugins in order to work !

If you purchase Waves plugins You own the version of the plugins that you buy. So if you purchase v13 of the plugin then you own that and can use v13 for as long as you want. If MacOS changes things so that the plugins that you own no longer work, then Waves will have to update to the next version which you can update to at a lower price then purchasing again. I still use version 11 plugins and don’t have any issues with them. A lot of software companies charge you to update or upgrade to the next version of their software when it’s released.

If you purchase Ableton Live 11. You’ll have to pay to upgrade to Ableton Live 12. If you purchase Windows 10 you have to buy Windows 11. If you purchase IZotope plugins you have to pay to upgrade to the next version when it comes out. If you purchase Cubase 11 you’ll have to pay to upgrade to Cubase 12. It’s a very common thing with software it’s not a new thing. A lot of companies are now offering subscriptions so you are always up to date but then you don’t actually own the software. But if you purchase a waves plugin you own that version of the plugin and can continue using it for as long as you like.

Just for a bit of perspective, I'm a Windows user and I've never ever had to upgrade a Waves plugin for OS support (I have V9, possibly even the odd V8 plugs all the way up to date). I've never spent a penny on WUP either.

@@AndiPicker On Apple computers is another story...you upgrade...you pay Waves for your plug in to work...! It is fine by me ...but people must be informed properly by Waves..!
