Thank you so much for not saying "offer video to get more clients and move with the times" people are completely unaware of how high the error rate is in video and I say this as someone who did video (as a hobby) before starting photography. Not to mention the extra investment for video equipment and extra editing. Using video as a tool for communicating with your prospective clients goes a longer way. And too many photographers underestimate the power of communication.

1000% agree with you especially the part where you show up early and all the other small details. Those small details definitely give you best ROI in the long run. Great video

You are amazing. I am not a pro/not a wedding photographer - just a hobbyist trying to get better but dayum - you are the bomb. Thank you for this..very informative. We own a small CrossFit gym and we feel the very same way: don't sweat the customer service/giving more value part... it reaps benefits longer term.

I think the best marketing you can get is from other clients so make sure you are all having a great time, don't be inappropriate, show yourself earlier at the appointment, try to pose them if they are not familiar with photographers. The families will talk about the photographer as he is in the center of attention at times so make a good impression. They will vouch for you. Young adults tend to have friend couples who are not married. "Hunt" for them at the wedding you are shooting in the short breaks you sometimes take and keep in touch with them.

all valid points. You never know who's watching you at a wedding. So gotta put your best foot forward at all times for those client referrals.

Thanks for this video, appreciate the insight! My wife and I showed up an hour early to a particular wedding and it has left a major impression, in fact 2 weddings were booked from this wedding alone. if you're gonna be there all day, what is another hour of your time!
@jbivphotography2 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY!! May as well get there early since you're going to be there for a long time anyway. You're not going to do anything with that hour when you're not there other than prep for the wedding.

Do you think it would help having a vendor list in your blog posts for certain weddings? It maby a video on what to down with blog posts. What you include and what doesn't matter and stuff like that. I just started doing a few here and there that are more "instructional" for my couples but I love seen people talking about doing blogs for each wedding they shoot

Hey John, thanks for your help man! You are really an inspiration for my wife and I and have been a huge help for us as we start our photography business 🙏🏻. Got them Natural Feels boy, really tweaked it though to our liking. You did some real cool stuff in lightroom with it that I didnt know was possible so I learned a lot working with your preset and it totally renewed our style of editing. Here's my question: Do you tell your couples when you plan on showing up early to a wedding? If so at what stage do you let them know that? Thank you! - Bob

Bravo John! I wish I could give this video 50,000,000 likes. Great information!! I've been following you for years and about 7 months ago I had decided to take that first serious step towards wedding photography. I've been struggling to get gigs and couldnt figure out why. This info is really helpful! thanks!

I appreciate that. I'm actually not too familiar with Focal but I've been hearing a lot about it. I have to look into it more to see if it's a good viable option.

@jbivphotography2 жыл бұрын
Steam Deck has been awesome. Honestly I want to make a video about it but I don't think it would do well on the channel. But every time I travel for a wedding I have some sort of gaming device with me.

@@jbivphotography haha yeah there's probably not very many gamers watching your videos :D Well I'm one. It could however be a topic of mental health of being a wedding photographer. Like that you need time off or some sort of tool to help you destress?
