What’s one unusual habit you have that helps you stay organized or simplify your life? 😄
@stephenmessano18474 ай бұрын
I live in Japan, where home dishwashers are expensive and rare (mostly because of tiny kitchen spaces). I wash everything by hand, which is also a great time to listen to music or podcasts. I actually look forward to washing my dishes every day. (Is that weird?)
@bryanhuseboe539Ай бұрын
@@stephenmessano1847 It is not only not weird it is also healthier because you are also avoiding the toxic dishwater detergent drying agent, film residue that is left on dishes .

Here's another thing I do. I really enjoy sitting at a coffee shop with coffee and cake watching the people. But the coffee shop recently changed hands and now a tiny square of cake costs R40 and a cappuccino R41. Which is a lot for a pensioner like me. Now, I am also a birdwatcher/photographer, with a VERY comfortable 3-legged folding campstool which clips onto my camera harness. Coffee in a small vacuum flask and then off to the supermarket to buy a really kick-arse piece of cake for R25 - the kind that makes your blood-sugar levels beg for mercy. Then off to sit privately behind my favourite tree overlooking the river... What more could anybody ask for?

I so love your honesty! I don't think anything about you is weird but rather wondrous! 🙂 I love that you can go to the store every couple of days instead of doing a big grocery haul. I appreciate your reminder that just because it's free, doesn't mean we need to bring it home!! Everything has a cost! Waiting in line forever for something free? Time is money! Thanks for sharing your honest OOPS in bringing home the free cap! ha. You're human, and you prove that minimalism is an ongoing practice! I just started two months ago and am currently doing a no-spend August with my husband. I want to build the habit of really evaluating every single item I bring into my home. I am an AVID Amazon shopper, so this will definitely be a challenging process for me. You've been incredibly helpful to me on this new journey of mine!

I loved this video Seve! Your take on avoiding freebies really resonated with me. It's so easy to accumulate clutter just because something is free, but your insight about the hidden cost of storing these items really hit home. It’s a great reminder to be more intentional, even when it comes to “free” stuff. Thanks for sharing these unique habits and helping us all stay focused on what truly adds value to our lives!

Thank You Seve for giving me a refreshed perspective of walking for air. For example, a 5-minute stroll or 10-minute stroll. Just lingering, slow, truly stress less linger. Being American, I got fed up with obsession's with performance, most speed, most distance, most no pain no gain! Faster, Longer, nonsense. 5 minutes of quiet, relaxing, "non-expectation" moments to, as you say, to reset, rejuvenate, relax and relish the moment. 😀

Hello from Montreal. We have 3 grocery stores within walking distance. We also have "store cards" that collect points when we shop. As well, weekly, items go on the "points" list. We shop every 5 to 8 days, (that's what my granny cart will hold). So, we get food on offer, and the points to go with it, and when we reach certain thresholds, we then get a lump sum off of our final grocery bill at check out. A very useful tool not to buy needless crap. We only buy what we eat on a weekly basis. I did a clothes sweep a few days ago, and got rid of the final push "stuff." At bedtime, I always clean my surfaces, sweep the great room/kitchen, and tidy up before I go to bed. We don't do tv here either. I don't bother with episodic tv nor Netflix. I am content with YT and a pod cast before bed. I don't have any social media, on my desktop nor my phone. I do the mindful slow walking to and from the store and through the park near home when I am out. We will soon enter the "Closet Swap" period when the summer clothes go into storage and our fall wardrobe gets hung out. My clothes choices are always suited for layering. I don't buy seasonal clothes, if they cannot be used across the year. I have my base layers, my long sleeve shirts, and pants/sweats, than can be layered over a base layer in the winter. Minus (-20c) is very cold without layered clothing for sure.

Excellent, we have pretty similar habits! I am entering the closet swap period soon too. It's always so nice to see and wear those heavier clothes you couldn't during the summer! 😊

I volunteer at 3 places where I get tee shirts. 3 of us live in a 2BR apartment near Chicago. When we travel, we use carry-on only. Dressy tops and sweaters last years. Off-season clothes are stored in our suitcases. No pop or alcohol. Tina, Al's wife

1. I also avoid freebies. 2. Clothing: I still have unnecessary clothes it is an area of work for me. 3. groceries: I only walk to the grocery store so that helps me not over buy. 4. expensive items. I spend a lot on my gym membership, very healthy food and athletic wear, and I feel these things are worth it. Many probably wonder why when I live a very modest life in so many ways, I spend $200 per month on my gym instead of $20 at say 24 hour fitness, but it is the coaches and the added motivation, and there is a social aspect. In the end I will spend to keep my body healthy. 5. I buy my bus metro monthly subscription, once I am over $45 dollars I pay no additional money. I too bike a lot, but because I often prefer to bike over taking the bus. 6. Yeah, I have not owned a TV for many years. I do not watch any series unless I am at a friends house and that is what I am doing with my friend, then it is a social event. 7. I do have a dog, but I walk many times a day without him and many times a day with him. All the dog owners will often ask me about my dog when I am on a me walk. I do find it destressing to walk my dog, but I get a different type of destressing when I walk alone. 8. Yeah, I enjoy cleaning, however, I think the end result is also very important to me. I like looking over my apartment and seeing that everything is orderly and relatively clean.

I don't think your habits are weird at all because I do the same things. My only deviation from you would be on the hat freebie. If I always wore hats and someone would give me one for free, I would take it so I wouldn't have to buy the next one.
@SunnyKindJourney4 ай бұрын
Yeah I wear those all the time too and actually both of them will be in use. I think the mistake from me was just taking something because it was free and not thinking beforehand its value to me.
