Technically, it's over 10 years. As a foreign offender, once you get sentenced to more than 12 months,that's automatic deportation.Thus you automatically banned from the UK for re-entry for 10 years. The Judge is smart,to him, the earlier he gets deported, the less cost to tax payers. Why sentence him to 5 years and keep him behind bar in UK for years at UK expense?

As soon as the UK gets a government that is willing to invest properly into the police and justice system. That means more police out on the streets, the creation of new prisons and the general public accepting that a new prison may be built in their area and not make a song and dance about having a prison built near to where they live. Without more prisons, the judges will forever have their hands tied by the government on dishing out only token sentences so as to avoid prison overcrowding. In the meantime, expect crime to continue to rise.

There needs to be a standard patrol car that is sufficiently armoured against collision instead of expensive plastic bmw etc . More protection for the officers and able to combat larger vehicles
@nathanhockley7025
@nathanhockley7025 Жыл бұрын
I suppose its a question of cost analysis. Larger cars would be heavier and more expensive per unit - and require much larger engines therefore to reach the same speeds. Which would affect fuel efficiency and so cost would go up and time available for patrols would be reduced as they would have to refuel more regularly. Also I would assume replacing more standard parts of normal cars is cheaper than replacing custom more heavy duty ones. Also, I would presume - although I do not know this as fact - that panels would still need to be replaced on a heavier-duty car after collision for safety standards. So I suppose the only true benefit would be protecting officers in the event of contact, however, I would guess if safety was a serious concern they would have implemented safety features into the cars already - above standard ones.
@type17
@type17 Жыл бұрын
The problem with making Police cars tougher with armour, ram-bars, etc, is that they become more dangerous to other vehicles/people, so if a Police car hits another vehicle, the damage/injuries to potentially innocent bystanders could be much worse. It's also possible that the changes would be such that the Police car manufacturer's type-approval for safety for that vehicle model could be voided.
@thefiestaguy8831

There's a few reasons this isn't done. I'm serving in a different force and NONE of our general patrol cars, or even traffic cars have bullbars or armour. Some of our fleet are even just plain cars, no lights, no siren, nothing, just a plain car. 1) Cost - just fitting a car with decals, lightbars, siren, control unit, radio, MDT/IVMA etc costs thousands, easily £6,000--£7,000, it takes a team of technicians days if not longer to fully kit them out from start to finish. In terms of just the labour cost alone you're probably looking at several grand. 2) It looks too oppressive - public perception is everything. 3) More dangerous to other road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists, motorbikes, and even other car drivers in any collision. 4) It will of course weigh more and be less efficient, thus costing more to operate, whilst it might only be a few pounds a week, if you factor how many police vehicles there are in the UK and the fact that police vehicles are LITERALLY used 24/7 365 days a year, it will very quickly add up to be a lot of money over a financial year.

PIT maneuvers can easily prove fatal for officers, the suspect and the public as the car can easily flip or go somewhere the officer wasn't intending. Sometimes I think the police just enjoy the thrill of it all! All that was completely unnecessary The Porsche just needed to be followed by the police helicopter to its final destination It probably wouldn’t even have known it was being pursued! Avoiding all that danger to the general public on the motorway, and indeed damage to the rather expensive car! Wonder about these police at times!
@PocketRocket_
@PocketRocket_ Жыл бұрын
The suspect can then easily flee, with nobody on the ground following he could go anywhere out of view of the helicopter and get away. Also the car wasn't even his so it would be pretty much impossible to prove who was driving it. Not to mention there's no telling when or where they might stop, and the physical evidence that he was throwing out the window would be hard to spot.

@Combatting
@Combatting Жыл бұрын
Because this isn't America, and the UK Police vehicles aren't cheap 🤣
@thwalesproductions
@thwalesproductions Жыл бұрын
Too dangerous for general public, UK roads are smaller and more windier, and these cars are made to be faster than american ones as cars in UK are smaller therefore more nimble and faster than those large sedans you get in USA. If a police car was to hit someone of the general public and they got bull bars theres potential for massive serious injury even death. Also UK traffic police are trained mainly on TPAC and not PIT manoeuvres as TPAC is a safer option for everyone and more predictable. PIT option could cause the car to go somewhere the officer didn't intend it would go therefore is barely used in UK as it is too dangerous and damage to police cars can get costly - all taxpayer paid

I absolutely love the logic of "it was a waste of taxpayer money" because it's never true. Police vehicle repair already comes out of their pre-allocated budgets and sub-budgets. They already allocate an amount of money to maintenance and repairs. This damages aren't sucking money out of the 'pothole' coffers - that's not how it works. The reason they can do that is because they don't just pull random mechanics in off the street when there's damage. They pay and sign yearly contracts with a maintence company, who is getting the contract money regardless of if police damages no cars or a thousand cars. If they're not doing that, it's still the same thing anyway; in-house mechanics always there and always getting paid, who will always have a budget to work with that's pre-defined and specifically for them. The logic it's "wasting taxpayers money" is nonsense. It's not. I wouldn't even class it a "waste" either. Firstly, it is opinion and not fact whenever you decide something is "wasting", and Second I'd personally much rather go to police stopping criminals than a minister's venison at the Houses of Parliament.
@radstockben9355
@radstockben9355 Жыл бұрын
@@Perseus7567 you talk total shit! If they were not smashing up cars! There would be no allocated money for mechanics to fix smashed up cars! Your correct it’s an opinion I never said otherwise!! The damage is paid for by taxpayers! Your logic is flawed. And you would much rather it go to catching criminals which in turn normally ends up with a slap on the wrist and a £200 fine. If the criminals were actually held accountable I would agree but they usually are not and will be back on the street doing it again within a few days.
