Your method is alot like I do. I cut the logs up near where I splitter. Then push the wood up close. I have a rock bucket so most of the dirt and saw dust falls out. Then I scoop up a bucket full of the pieces that need to be split and use the bucket as an apron by the splitter, take out what I want to split stack it back in the bucket along with the small stuff I scooped up with the big stuff. If I don't have a bucket full I have the wood I pushed up to finish filling the bucket. Then I take it to where I want it. Thanks Tom Turbo

Thanks Tom It seems to work..right I try doing it as efficiently as possible but also I just enjoy cutting logs be it firewood or lumber/slabs

I like the set up. Just one very little suggestion... If you had backed the side by side a little closer to you and the splitter you would have been able to grab logs easier.

I can agree. I already changed the layout. Had to move it further away from the sawmill. So I built a small 10 x 10 steel roof cover but haven't really split any rounds since only cant cutoffs from the sawmill.

Kieth yeah those splitters for the price work well. I had the same model a few years back. I added a table on both sides of the beam. Gives you a little more staging area. I used it up until last fall now I own a modified rugged made and I can say it has cut my wood gathering time almost in half filling my 3 point carryall. Nice setup you have there. Looking forward to more vids.

Thanks, yeah I already changed the setup again. The firewood shed is full. So back to stacking on pallets for drying. Built a small 8x10 covered area to keep me out of the rain/sun. Still working on staging and flow. Lately I've been splitting more cut offs from the sawmill then rounds.

Great splitter. It’s hard to justify the money for a commercial log splitter. You’d have to sell a LOT of firewood to pay for one. I just don’t think there’s enough money in wood to justify it
@DawnRedwoodGroves2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on how much firewood you want to build to sell. I enjoy making firewood so it doesn't feel like work but we can all agree it is physical work. I'm processing 50-70 face cord of wood a year so a used commercial splitter fell in my lap so I bought it. Unfortunately getting spare parts is a nightmare. I'll be making a video soon on this adventure.

Currently working up a storm down Oak, 12 chunks down, 42-inch diameter. Each chunk about 300 pounds. The trick with a splitter is how to get it vertical. Don't even think of using the splitter in horizontal mode! This is splitting kindling.
@DawnRedwoodGroves4 жыл бұрын
Ugh, 42" diameter oak isn't firewood. That's for my LX150 sawmill. I will agree for that size you aren't lifting them to split. Thanks for the comment.

About the same set-up I have. Little different splitter and tractor/loader and side by side. I use a home made trailer that holds a little more than yours. Less lifting and bending for an old man.

i hear you, these old bones complain some days.

Wolf Ridge and Eastonmade have much faster cycle times. Tractor supply did have one with a dual action wedge that appeared to be pretty snappy as well. speed seems to be the name of the game. 30 ton sounds impressive.. but if it is 30 ton, 25 ton, or even just 20 ton, they all seem to be able to handle the task. The kinetic ones, if it was given to me, I wouldn't use it (good scrap iron). They are just good enough to lose a finger or a limb.

i agree, both make nice units and can produce faster. I have actually been looking at both for possible upgrade if I decide to up our firewood production. I still believe this is perfect for the normal DIY wood splitter person. Also, size can matter, I was just splitting some big nasty red oak rounds and stalled the ram.

I got the 4 way splitter for mine and it looks like you could use it to . I have the same 30 ton splitter you do and I’m telling you for 49$ get it . It Says 25 ton on the box but it fits your splitter.and works well

Thanks, I've been eyeing it up at TSC.

Hello, this is a fix for you Country Line splitter, I found this for you to look at for your splitter ! Log splitter stroke limiter Save the Acorns (his channel) Save the Acorns. There is even a better video out fixing this problem, I will try to find this for you. Log splitter stroke limiter May 31, 2022 We split shorter logs and needed a way for the splitter to automatically stop on the return stroke. Now we can start the return stroke and grab the next log without worrying about it returning to the full 24” stroke and having to wait 10” of nothing for it to touch the log. There channel is Save the Acorns. I think you will like this.

It took me some time to find them. I like his string concept better and I might try it. When/if I start it back up. I purchased a commercial wood splitter to help build up and grow a firewood business

not many people split like you and I do split in half then turn and split the 2 halves..... ,everybody concerned with cycle time ...I am concerned with easter moves

thanks, I alway try to work smarter not harder. this method seems to work best for me with these size logs.

Back the ATV with rounds up 3-4'. You're walking too much. 3 steps over, 3 steps back for every round X how many rounds ?
@DawnRedwoodGroves3 жыл бұрын
yes, that would help, I've changed how and where I split firewood. Still trying to perfect the process.

@@DawnRedwoodGroves I understand. Takes a while. But cut all the wasted motion you can.....no need to create work when there plenty of it naturally occurring ! ahahahahaaaa
