Wow, most shops would call it junk. You revived it from the dead. Excellent work and amazing skill level.

Amazing work. Very impressive. I have a Mackie 406M that was glitches with the low rumble buttons. No way I could do what you do.

Another nice and detailed video from you, good stuff, it is interesting seeing the items that you work on that I don’t normally work on myself.

Hector Espinoza: I´m from Mexico and liked very much your video, I have the exact model of amplifier that has a problem probably in the stereo area, but seems that Mackie don´t have repair services down here, but I thank you for the magnificent repair you´ve done

Wish I could've seen where that peak detector capacitor was you replaced. I have the same issue and i think thats whats sending my efx into clipping. This was a great video though so thanks!

Nice repair. I like that one. The only thing I would have done more is to fill up the hole with epoxy again. I am not a fan of free hanging parts, but I think your's will work just fine. Usually I cover the underside with a wide piece of kapton tape, lay it flat down and just pour the epoxy in the hole until the it looks nice and same height as the PCB itself. Since there is no copper on my epoxy I use SMA10SL fast settling glue to fix the SMD parts on top. Then wiring and sometimes even drilling to put wires through the board like vias.

Nice video, I have the same Amp, I measure the +bias on channel 1 and I'm getting a negative voltage, I can't figure out why...
@billylebron54482 жыл бұрын
never mind, I adjusted the variable resistor that adjusts the bias, worked !

I love it! I have a Carvin cx872 and I just want to figure out how to take the back off so I can screw the fan back on. I unscrewed it off not realizing that it was held on by a nut on the inside. Looks different from the Mackie tear down.

nice work, i thought you would have to build a little standoff board to repair that damaged section but i guess there wouldn't be much room there for it.

I was saying "No, leave the chip, it'll be that capacitor!". (I only know that now because I made the same mistake in my Data Precision 1350 multi-meter repair video, where I was changing chips before finding the real cause - a bad electrolytic capacitor.) My excuse is that I do more of my own projects than repairs, so the caps are new and unlikely to be faulty, whereas my experimenting may have damaged a semiconductor, so I tend to blame them first. However, it's the opposite way around for repairs, where old caps are the more likely culprits.

How would that catch fire?
@lmamakos5 жыл бұрын
I wonder if that capacitor shorted internally due to mechanical stress while mounted on the board? Or just the heat from desoldering it from the board "fixed" it. In that part if circuit, it wouldn't have taken too much internal leakage to induce that failure. Nice video, thanks!

Thanks for the video. That is one of the worst fires I have seen on KZbin. I would like to have seen your finished wiring of the replaced components on the back. Curious how you wired up the op amp.

Mouser table showed 30V max supply for that op amp, but the circuit seems to be applying +/-16V. That would be 32V, right? Maybe they decided it was OK.
@feedback-loop5 жыл бұрын
Where have you seen 30V? Max dual supply voltage is +-18V according to the data sheet. There are 7815 and 7915 regulators in the power supply. I don't know why the rails are marked as +-16V on the schematic.

It seems that EVERYTHING has to have some kind of digital effects processor now. If I was forced to use effects I would rather have a rack of analogue equipment.
@feedback-loop5 жыл бұрын
That would be heavy and expensive. Trade-offs... I would rather listen to 24bit/192KHz lossless format like FLAC, but convenience prevailed, so MP3 files are everywhere, and starting with some decent bit rate (like 192) most people wouldn't tell the difference anyway in a double-blind test (myself included, most probably).
