@starskylvr Airplane was specifically referencing this ad campaign. Yuban used it throughout the 70's and utilized dozens of actresses for the commercials. BTW, the actress in Airplane is Lee Bryant and looks *nothing* like the woman in the ad here.

I was born and raised in So. Calif. And in the San Fernando Valley, and after seeing these commercials, it brought back tons of memories. Especially the KLOS-95.5 add! Listened to that station until the day I moved out of there in 1986...

WOW!! Seeing that Vons commercial, little did I know that 20 some odd years later, I would move out to Southern California, and this would be the grocery store of choice. I am still shopping there. Only now, instead of walking up and down the aisles like used to do, I am now utilizing their home delivery service.

I watched New Years Rockin' Eve '79, at least part of it. I was in the 5th grade at the time. I distinctly remember seeing Blondie perform what must have been "Heart of Glass" on it. It was the first time I had ever seen or heard them. I couldn't believe how high Deborah Harry's voice was. No reference to Dick Clark in the bumpers at this point in time.
