These commercials aired on NBC on January 20th, 1979. Thanks to Meredith_Vintage for the recording.
1. MG MGB
2. Pearl Drops Tooth Polish
3. FemIron
4. Suave Clean Hair Shampoo (I hear nothing about how it fights the greasies...but I trust the G.I. JOE announcer to deliver a superior product)
5. WBLS 107.5 FM
6. Brands Mart Manager's Sale
6. Record World (In early 79 disco music was still extremely popular, but by the end of the year it was in decline. Over-saturation in popular culture is the most likely cause, but some cite highly publicized events like Chicago's "Disco Demolition Night" that took place in July of 79 as a contributing factor its decline)
7. Carvel Ice Cream
8. "Midnight Special" Commercial Bumper
9. Promo for "Brothers & Sisters" (One of three short lived sitcoms that premiered in early 79 centered around Frat Houses, cashing in on the popularity of 1978's "Animal House"...the others being "Delta House" on ABC and "Co-Ed Fever" on CBS)
10. WCBS FM 101
11. Fernwood In The Poconos
12. New York State DMV Drunk Driving PSA (With Henry Winkler. The Fonz is looking very scruffy here, I guess they let him grow out his hair in between seasons)
13. Promo for "Don Kirchner's Rock Concert"
14. Clairol Condition Shampoo
15. Tickle
16. Bell System (6:54 Everybody knows that Clowns don't have families)
17. Certs (With David Garrison aka Steve from "Married With Children")
18. U.S. Army
19. Schlitz
20. Allen Carpet
21. Tone (With Roy Orbison singing a reworked "Pretty Woman")
22. Stayfree Mini-Pads
23. Unicap T
24. Kleenex (With Jo Anne Worley)

Having the G.I. Joe announcer at the end of the Suave Shampoo commercial makes me think Cobra was behind the plot concerning the Greasies.

The Pearl Drops Tooth Polish commercial sounds like it should have been the lead-in for ON-TV's Adults Only section. Yikes.

Pearl Drops Tooth Polish-ad was sometimes aired late nights on a local station here during reruns of The Night Stalker Suave Clean Hair Shampoo-plot twist:the woman in the ad is actually the GI Joe operative named"Cover Girl"😄 Brothers & Sisters-Aunt Esther had her hands full with that bunch.. U.S. Army-the beginning of this ad kind of looked like the opening of one of those films featuring the"rebellious cadet who doesn't follow the rules"character Allen Carpet-she shouldve snatched the mic..

9:22 - Good thing the commercial informed me off the bat it was a dramtization. I might have mistaken a guy who looks like Inspector Gadget cosplaying as a reporter as an actual news report.

Music in the second part of the MG ad was "Capitol City" by Brian Bennett from the KPM Music Library! LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther from Sanford & Son) was in Brothers and Sisters? I could tell as soon as she said "suckers!"

The actresses in these commercials seem so genuine. They're much more attractive than the plastic women on tv nowadays.

These commercials aired after 1 AM. It was most likely an intentionally racy ad to be specifically aired on late night TV shows such as Midnight Special.

0:00--Wow; the cars from this period look so dated...er, classic! 5:36--Kind of weird seeing Henry Winkler with shaggy hair and a beard, right in the middle of Happy Days' original run! Yes, this must have been during a break in production. 6:21--Back when deodorant came in aerosol (unthinkable nowadays due to CFC concerns) and roll-on. 6:50--"Reach out, reach out and touch someone." That catchy jingle was all over the airwaves back then. 7:51--Sadly, Certs seem to have gone bye-bye in recent years. They used to be my go-to brand of breath mints, but I can never find them anymore. 8:50--Kind of funny how I seem to remember all the beer commercials from this period, given that in 1979 I was 13 years too young to legally drink the stuff. 10:50--What ever happened to Upjohn? I never see that name anymore, and I believe some of their brands have been absorbed by other pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer.

CFC concerns with aerosol existed back then too, and were phased out of consumer goods by the late 70s. kzbin.info/www/bejne/haabl4yHbrRpbdk Aerosol products do not have to contain Chlorofluorocarbons. Chlorofluorocarbons have been banned by the Montreal Protocol. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Protocol

FemIron...When the actress says "I'm sure I'm getting the iron I need" without a lot of confidence in her voice, you might want to do another take...
