I would not of believed this had I experienced it personally. When I was playing local A grade A1 I was in the top 5 of local seniors comp and I was the A1 junior.. This is in Australia. In Melbourne actually. On practice night one day an old. Vietnamese- Cambodian guy came with a family that used to play lower grade like C and d grade. They asked me to play their grandfather and the younger guy around 50 his son said just play his good he used to represent his country. He was a chopper but he was like 70-75 any way I could not beat him and I had a very powerful loop kill forehand. The son could tell I wa incredulous and thought and could tell I thought it was a joke. I was only 16-17 then and used to play in state tournaments. If I had not experienced it I would of definitely been commenting that this is not possible. That is another thing I love about table tennis you can be small, big, old or young and you still have a good chance of competing satisfactorily. It’s the great equalizer in a certain sense!!!

Well, I m 66 now and I can clearly move faster and with more flexibility than this guy. He is very stiff, but skillful with his wrist and hands. He uses traditional penhold which is practically dead after Ma Lin era. RVP/RPB is the more modern superior penhold style which I use. I pattern after Wang Hao.

Also, the young player is putting almost all his shots to the backhand court, no variation, no middle or FH placement. Every shot to the BH makes it easy for the Uncle to just stand and control the court.

I don't think he is a pro, his skill is less than some of my friends who are just occasional university players. He is just an average amateur club player, who has got no variation, no adjustment and can't even make a consistent top spin drive, which is a must if you want to be a serious ping pong player.

Generally speaking,the long pimp rubber is very suitable for the aged players' usage. Its advantage can allow the aged players have few needs to play ping ping games vigorously or intensely with one another in games as well as its unique performance features often interferes with mediocre players' judgement for balls in games. In general,it's a kinda tricky weapons.

That is how to play against LP in the 1st basic step now, push-attack-push-attack. Put it this way, if you cannot attack the LP's push (拱), it is hard for you to win. I believed that kid had a court-side coach. YOu could see he changed his tactic and this forced the old players to start twiddling.

About 30-40% of the 70 yr. old serves are illegal, he doesn't throw the ball up high enough and sometimes he doesn't pull his free arm back. BUT, I like to practice with a pip penholder type of player before I go to a tournament.

The young player was playing a lot of aggressive shots where the uncle was standing so it became easy for the uncle to block.It would be quite hard for the uncle if the young players attacked on deep forehand.

Young player is letting old guy control the table. The red player does well when he hits deep because old guy is pushing his short balls side to side throwing young guy out of position to loop him. Oldie is playing belly-to-table so young guy needs to play deep and cause him to just block it back.

I play long pips and have beaten players who were much better/younger/talented than me because they do not understand the spin reversal. (I am 63). Berating the 70-year old because he does not move like someone 1/3 his age is just wrong; I would be so happy to have that physical condition at 70. Some people dont understand how they loose against him, its the worst players i can play is this kind. Ball is so loose/no spin i shoot the net or over the table or loose to placement

A year ago I lost against a player exactly played the same way. It was in Germany but he was a Chinese player from Shanghai. I lost in the final set and he was about 70 years too. Normally I like playing against long pimples but these style was new to me. He finally lost in the final of the tournament against a half pro player.

You don't see long pips played this aggressively much. Very impressive. I am not good enough to beat a good pips player with my inverted rubbers, so I would probably try and beat a pips player using a blade with anti-spin rubber on my backhand. The pips player use your spin against you, therefore, anti-spin rubber and technique is a good alternative for intermediate player, maybe even professional. Thoughts?

It needs a lot of patience when play again someone with long pips (either he plays as a classic chopper, either he pushes with them), as they reverse your spin. If you keep that always in your mind while playing and if you are quite consistent with your attacks, 8 out of 10 times you will win. I would recommend you, especially if you are young, keep on using the inverted rubbers, both sides.

@@nickclarke4926 long pip are not OP equipment. nothing does. it has certain playing areas where they excel and that is true. long pips also require a lot of training to be at higher level such as the grandpa in the video. most high level very rarely using long pips and there are reasons for it.
