At this point do we need Mazda to come out with a new rotary engine or do we just need a new chassis for all of this new billet goodness ?!!! 😝😝

Plenty of chassis out there that can accept a rotary since they’re so tiny. I still wouldn’t turn down an RX7 reboot from Mazda though, too bad the engine would never pass modern emissions standards 😕

@efini_fc42764 жыл бұрын
@@bryanp4827 The only thing I will say about them producing an RE right now is I'd like to see crate engines from them, built not for the street. But beyond that... They've accomplished and produced more than any of the top 10 rotary shops have ever done for the engine, put together... And a large amount of those shops wouldn't even be around without the Mazda-designed models in the first place. If emissions weren't so tight, the engineering would be different and there would be plenty more of these engines filled with even more love, with a Mazda branding. I these guys don't build race cars more than they do passenger vehicles.
@Baukevandijk4 жыл бұрын
@@bryanp4827 They have been developing rotaries since the cosmo, and are still developing it to this day. Its just that emissions have to be lowered first, but they believe in it like a religion, its just insanely difficult if possible at all to develop an economicaly sensible rotary engine. They sort of got their will now as they announced that their new Electric Mx30 Will get a rotary range extender. But to repeat it once again. Mazda is still obsessed with their rotary engine, its just that it takes hella time to develop one that will work in the modern world. I do however agree that they can also just build race rotarys. however with company's like billet out there, whats the point.. They don't have the manufacturing capacity anyway
@MrDelsoleg113 жыл бұрын
They're the reason you even have the opportunity to love them in the first place lol at the end of the day mazda is a business and they need to sustain themselves, while rotary powered cars are there claim to fame in the performance world in all practicality reciprocating engines are what pays the bills and gives them the opportunity to be able to design new generation rotary engines. Let's face it rotorys aren't the most emission friendly engines and trying to produce one for the mass market in this day in age is hard. Hopefully they do start selling another rotary powered car in the near future, but if they don't at least they left us with great platforms and engine designs to keep improving on.

Question, are the rotors on a 4 rotor set 180 degrees apart from each other? And I was trying to tell from watching the build how they are staggered. Can you expand on that for me please? Also, I have a perfectly running '04 RX8 that I love. How much to put in a deluxe 3 rotor motor, upgraded clutch, and transmission? If I brought the car to you.
@GTORx73 жыл бұрын
On the eccentric shaft itself rotor 1 and 2 are 180 degrees, 2 and 3 are 90 degrees, then 3 and 4 are 180 degrees. This works out to each rotor firing every 90 degrees. 20b full swap usually costs $35-40,000

Wait wait wait... wtf.... How does this coolant system even work? Wouldn't the coolant just create super hot pockets in the right front and left front of the engine? I know how the coolant passages in rotaries move from right to left with the rear iron making the turn for the coolant in the back. Please explain to me how this works. Hell, I'll pay you for the answer.
@GTORx72 жыл бұрын
Yes, coolant enters the center billet plate, and branches out to the front and rear on the hot side of the motor (same passages as factory) then the rear and front make the turn to the other side and flow back towards the center plate again. Once they join together the flow comes out on top. It has to be setup exactly even flow. This was a prototype. Since then this has been on the dyno with many temp sensors, all of which read completely even temperature.
