As an avid rider of the KTM690 which was converted to longer range adventure machine using the raiiy raid aux tank...I applaud Husky for finally making a long range version of the single cylinder platform. For those that really want to adventure...these are the only way to go if you want to go by yourself. All the twins are just too heavy

I thought the same then I found out they already discontinued it within one year. Yeah, thanks Husky. I'm not sure why since they still make the 701. They just had to make a few extra fuel tanks for the customers who wanted the LR. No doubt to push people into buying the parallel twins they developed now.

just another random endorsement of that LC4 single...I finally decided to do the top end of my original 2008 after it started to blow some oil into the airbox after 83000kms, and it's amazing that the bore had absolutely no wear and still completely round, the piston had only worn 1 thou and it was only the rings that had worn. I have been a loyal customer of ktm/husky for many years. However, the direction your company has taken in recent years has left me disenchanted. All this cavalry of technology and gadgets is a dealbreaker for me. We are an important part of your clientele I believe, who are amateur mechanics and who work on our bikes ourselves. We are the real adventurers who go deep into the backwoods. We need simple and reliable mechanics that we can repair in our garage or deep in the woods. That doesn't mean producing boring motorcycles. It just means that we are a large and disappointed part of your customer base that would like to have raw, beastly, simple to repair motorcycles like you used to do. We don't give a damn about riding modes and TFT screens and connectivity with our iPhones. The T7 will probably be my next bike next summer. It's the only bike that offers what I'm looking for on the market today. It's a shame, it will never be as exciting to ride as a KTM/Husqvarna... Anyway, I'm not hating or trolling. I just think that if you never have feedback from us you will never know we are out there...

@@Iron88380 Well, i'm not saying this is the only good answer, but I think I would take a DRZ400E and modify it with a safari tank and all the bells and whistles. A DR650 could be a great candidate too, although a bit heavier. Some would argue that the KLR is the absolute choice, and it is always an option, although not my favorite of the bunch. It's important to keep in mind that none of those bikes will be near as exciting to ride as the ktm/husky (I have 3 KTMs in the garage). But for «Light, reliable and with longer service intervals as a priority. A bike that could get me in and out with no big issues.» those would be my personal options. Two words for you gentlemen: Heated Grips. Anywhere in the world where the temperature can drop below 10 deg celsius, bikes should come standard with heated grips. All cars get heaters, why not bikes? Every bike I have owned for at least 15 years all had them, no matter how big or what kind of bike. That first trail through all the burnt out forest looked spectacular. I could have just ridden up and down that all day. Alas, a 701 - in whatever form would be too much bike for limited off-road skills. I would likely just hit something sooner, and harder. A more street oriented version, or maybe a retro style Scrambler ( like the prototype we saw about 10 years ago, with that red tank and a big round headlight ), would be something could see trading my VStrom for.

Don't need a bigger bike at all. I've lived off my 701 for a month of camping and 6,000 miles. Just depends on how much crap you think you need. The extra gas up front just means you don't have to carry it on the back and make the bike even more tail heavy when loaded. This would be way better balanced
