Road trip during a hurricane... yea or nay? 🤔 | Blue Ridge Parkway

The final in the Blue Ridge Parkway video series covers the trip from Cana in southern Virginia up to the Parkway's end at Rockfish Gap. This day was profoundly foggy and misty, making for some insane driving conditions. This may be the strangest day I've ever had on the road - not just the swirling, hurricane-sourced mist, but the occasional heavy rain, road closures, and fallen trees. This was truly an adventure!

Two things you missed. Last time I was in Meadows of Dan (a few years back), there was a shop where a man sold dulcimers that he made. Also the Chateau Morrisette winery and restaurant just up the road a piece. A great visit if you enjoy wine, good food, and Labrador retrievers!

Makes me wish I had just one more BRP trip in me, but I'll be 90 in July, so shit. You'd be the greatest companion because you stop and see stuff. You're right -- it's hard to drive the whole thing without incident. Too much change of latitude to avoid the infinite variety.

Wow, what an epic, beautiful, foggy trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Makes we want to do it. As usual, a great video with great music. Can you tell me what that musical piece was right after Mabry's Mill? (That begins as you drive away at about 11:10 ?) It was really nice.

If you ever get lost in the mountains and need water, those little valleys and saddles between the ridge lines are where you want to look, even in the summer when everything looks dry. It’s quite common for there to be water trickling under the leaf litter and brush even in the middle of summer.

I hope to do more videos in the US in the next few months. I don't have a dog, nor a car because I don't have a license in Japan. In this video it was my dad's car. And when doing KZbin videos these days I generally travel alone; otherwise I usually travel with someone :)

I've been to Alaska once (years ago) but didn't do a video about it. I'd love to go again; some of the most stunning scenery I've ever seen. And yes I saw a whale while on a ferry! For a tourist, it's incredible
