The note on the wall reads: Båtsfjord Church is a working church from 1971. The architect for the church was Hans Magnus. It was originally built in gray concrete with a flat roof, but after refurbishment it has been given a brick facade and pitched roof. The inventory is from the year of construction or later. Jardar Lunde has executed the 85 m² stained glass window called "The sevenfold grace - God's glorious majesty". The building is made of concrete and has 300 seats.

Many, many years ago, I was driving a truck and was in Båtsfjord picking up fish. Got there on a summer evening and it was actually midnight sun and very warm, which is unusual in these arctic latitudes. Headed out, first the hotel. There it was full of life in the pub and after that I wandered around a bit. There was a party on all the terraces and I was invited. Proper Brazil festival vibes everywhere, because it was THAT evening and night it was summer that year. In the torn-off cliffs towards Berlevåg, Hamningberg and other places, there are some caves. Partisans lay in these and scouted for German ships and reported on them, so they could be bombed or torpedoed. But can you imagine lying in a cave for six, maybe twelve months, without being able to light a fire to warm yourself, because then you might be discovered. Almost no food, nothing, only to be discovered and shot.

I am following your journey in Norway on Google Earth, there is even "streetview" of these roads you are driving, but I am totally enjoying your videos and commentaries as I can relate to your exuberance over the stark beauty no matter what the weather! I plan to return to Tromsø this Summer and one of the plans is to take the Hurtigruten ferry to Kirkenes then fly back to Tromsø on Widerøe only because it makes stops in Båtsfjord and Berlevåg; I figure it will give me that "birds´eye view" of hop and skipping over that stark terrain to land in between the mountains and a fjord! Excited that you took the time to check out Båtffjord Lufthaven. Carry on, dance as if no one is watching! I´m enjoying the ride! Thanks again for sharing.
