The most important test: how long does it maintain that speed? 100 GB? 200 GB? ...
@StaySic4Ever2 ай бұрын
Seems decent especially being QLC though for more writes I'd get TLC with DRAM anyway. Can check Techpowerup review.

100gb. I tested it with an enclosure, but without thermal pads and heat sink. It comes with 2 thermal pads and 2 heat sinks. I just bought 5x1tb on ebay for $45 each. This is by far the fastest SSD, I've ever seen in action.

It's been a long time since I've tuned in. Life is different, the world is different, way of thinking may be different, where I live may be different, the losses but I'll always be a part of RTW. We only ever interacted a few dozen times, both on the forums, via youtube, and a few select games(where I dominated), but you're still one of the best out there Logan.

So many choices (too many choices) in this category, based upon this review of yours I just headed over to amazon and clicked the GO button. Thanks!

I would rather buy a one from an already well established and reputable brand in the SSD space, like Crucial. We don't have enough data about the failure rates of the SSDs made by Orico so we can determine whether or not they're reliable.
@janlim09162 ай бұрын
I used Crucial once. It died in 4 months. Never again. As far as Orico is concerned. They are actually pretty famous in SEA, commonly used in Internet cafes because of their affordability. They are basically like Toyota's of SSD's here, cheap and reliable.

I'd say the bigger issue is how the SSD refreshes its NAND after the charge gets low. My Sabrent Rocket almost lost me my data that way; A Corsair SSD with the same controller and age was fine as well as all Samsung SSDs I've had over the years. Personally I'm gonna be sticking to the "big" SSD manufacturers from now on (Samsung, Crucial, SkHynix etc.)

@@janlim0916 strange, I've had many crucial SSDs, and all of them are still functioning well till this day.

Don't be a branding buyer that's newbie mistake Be a smart buyer brand agnostic no allegiance to brand and check reviews before buying Crucial is the weakest brand and performance among the enthusiasts

I have a 1TB Crucial SSD and my system crashed with it installed and it barely works in an external enclosure. At least with Windows. I haven't had any issues with it with my Linux install.

They seem ok but a little expensive. Same money (at least rn in central EU) could get me a something like a 530 from Seagate or a KC300 / Fury Renegade from Kingston. These would also come with LPDDR cache and overall better specs. Still glad about every bit of mention worthy competition.

I'm surprised WhoKeys still has Sims 4 on the front page. I don't think anyone likes that game over Sims 3.

I don't believe these SSD's have any DRAM which is a major nono for any sustained writing performance.

It has actually become pretty hard to find an NVME with DRAM; still love my Samsung 970 EVO Plus & 990 Pro :)

@@DailyTechNews.mp4 I have the crucial t705 2 terabyte Gen 5 it's supposed to be 14,500 MB but I actually get 11,000 in my PC because it's only a Gen 4 I may be losing a little bit but still a crap ton faster than my original team group cardia that I purchased that was supposed to be 10,000 megabytes read and write after their firmware screwed things over it's now just over 7,500 for both read and write nothing like paying close to $400 get your 10K read and write for exactly one week and then you're only at 7,500 after that I was a tad pissed off I'm still pissed off at that s***

Those speeds are not too shabby But even knowing that my computer is Gen 4 I have a Gen 5 m.2 in mine and it saturates it so much I actually get 11,000 MB sequential read and write although it may be a Gen 5 and I do not have a Gen 5 motherboard it is supposed to be 15,000 MB read and write So I will take my 11,000 read and write matter of fact my team group m.2 was supposed to be 10,000 MB read and write it lasted exactly one week until they updated their firmware now that particular drive will only get a little over 7,500 MB read and write and not what they originally advertised this drive however that I have blows that thing out of the water and I love it

Ty for this sir. The problem with NVME ssd drives, is that many are going dram-less to save money. The problem with this is; Large File sizes, it drops the transfer rates. After the initial speed boosts can and does drop down to about faster that a sata hhd.
@RiveroA2 ай бұрын
I just did a quick cursory search of the top 20 NVMe drives and 90% have dram . Maybe if you sort the lowest price you’ll start to find many drives without dram.
@byteme66202 ай бұрын
@@RiveroA Yep agree. I was just referring to the one being talked about as it is a dram-less drive. Was the only reason I brought it up, because many wouldn't know that. Dram Drives NVME SDD's also enjoy better over all long term stability and endurance.
