Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 9TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

I’m only about halfway in, but two thoughts: 1. Ted Lasso is awesome. I’ve watched all the way through at least 4 times and I discover new insights each time. Love. 2. Kudos for Nate’s correct pronunciation of ‘bruschetta.’ Bravo. ETA a number 3. I’ve missed a train in Chicago before even though I was at Chicago Union Station ahead of my train’s departure. To anyone reading this - don’t mess around and get there plenty early. Since many trains originate in Chicago, they handle things a little differently there. They will call your train in the grand hall and then will escort you as a group to the train. Learn from my mistake, which resulted in a long uncomfortable Greyhound bus ride. Don’t miss the train!

They have tons to do, especially the tours, which are amazing. I did eat at Pequods and I gave it 10\10. The sunset tour from Navy pier on a sailboat gives you an awesome view of the skyline. Both sides of the media like to give you lots of negatives about Chicago, and honestly I don’t live there so I can’t tell you, but I can say that I never had any bad experiences while visiting.

I spent 3 weeks at the campground beside the tracks at Tioga, waiting on the weather to straighten out to finish cutting wheat. Never saw amtrak go by, though. They were moving dirt to build the refinery at the time.

Greetings from The UK Kara and Nate! What an epic journey that was, looking forward to seeing your west-east leg in your next video. This video brought back many happy memories of places I’ve been to previously in The US- namely Milwaukee and Chicago. Also belated happy birthday for the 20th Nate, never realised until a couple of days ago that you share your birthday with my amazing dad- just 30-odd years apart (most likely more!). Keep up the great work guys.

Crazy,! I used to live in Minot ND and Havre MT. Both are stops on the Empire Builder (I've taken that train between both cities multiple times) It does get brutally cold. Coldest I've seen was -60F actual temp, with -80 windchill. Block heaters are a must during the winter or a heated garage. Yeah, there is a thing called ND Nice. I lived in Minot during the Oil boom when the Bakken was discovered. Williston went from around 2,000 people to over 20,000 in just a few years. Minot as well boomed from 12,000 to close to 40,000 by the time I left. It's good to see Amtrak has refurbished the seats since I was on them last. Glad you see you both go through my old stomping grounds :D

I grew up in Rugby, ND and used to take the train all the time to Seattle to visit family. So cool you got to pass through. And by the way, it's Mie-Not, like Tie Knot lol.

You guys 100% need to stay in Chicago longer. As someone who lives less than an hour away, it definitely deserves its own video! There are sooooo many things to do and see and it really is an amazing city!

I think the funniest part of day one was that Nate said,” we ridding economy we’ll be ridding business in Canada” after Kara said “this is like a airplane meal”. 😂 Love y’all’s videos! Thanks for creating them hope yall had an amazing time on this trip can’t wait for the next videos to come out!

I took the same route back in 2006. Right after Albany we got stuck in a blizzard and was trapped there for hours. The worse part was the heat in the car stopped working and we were freezing ( thank goodness my 1 yr old had to always bring a blanket with him, at least I was able to keep him warm).

I agree with Nate about being stuck somewhere…especially on a train or plane…I am able to disconnect and relax best on a long haul flight. Have only done a sleeper train once…to Scotland, and it was a joy.

You guys came to Seattle at the best time! Comic con was going on and it was fun. I wish I knew you guys were in town sooner so I could’ve showed you all the best spots! Edmonds (just about 8 miles north) is such a cute place to visit. Lots of small shops and the water front, along with the ferries to explore. Next time you’re in town, let me know and I can show you all the local things.

Nate was right on how to say Minot, ND. I live in ND just south of Fargo in a small town so glad you go to visit ND in the winter (although it has been a very mild winter this year). Hope you can make it back to ND so day and venture out and see more of ND.

We went on the Empire Builder also in Feb. We went to Van Couver, WA so we were on the Portland part of the train after Spokane, WA. We saw about 15 bald eagles by the river. It was so cool. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Seattle. Your Canadian trip looks wonderful .
