We mentioned in last week's video that we were headed somewhere warm, just the two of us, and hoped to share the trip. Although we didn't capture as much footage as we normally do, we were sure to capture the sun and the generous Mexico spirit. For the past three years, we've taken a short trip just after Christmas to set our intentions for the upcoming year. With so much going on after the holiday season, it's nice to plan for the future in a new environment for some extra inspiration. We really wanted to share our goal-setting approach but don't want to come off preachy, so maybe we can create a blog post on that topic for those who are truly interested. In this episode, we almost never leave the ground with all the issues Southwest Airlines has had with their scheduling, combined with the weather and the holiday season. But when the last flight attendant showed up from another canceled flight, all the passengers started to cheer. It's those little moments in travel that leave a lasting impression and unite strangers.

Honestly, season 2 of KYD is my favorite! For those of who have not watched, it’s a must. To me season 2 is, the daydream, adventure, love, laughter, and the heart and soul of KYD. Also, it was a tribute of Maddies last adventure and her sweet goodbye. That pup truly enjoyed her last few years.❤

I agree. In those earlier seasons, KYD was more about inspiration to get out and information on how to do it, and less about being a “brand”. I get it, it’s how one makes money on KZbin, but I miss how it was up until last year.

Yes, we'll always have special memories from Season 2. Not something that can be recreated, but so glad we have the episodes to look back on. I can't even imagine what it will be like to watch 10 to 20 years from now!

You know what I love about these two + their kids? They are a genuine family, who just knows how to take us along for the ride. Life can be hectic and busy and just about everything else under the sun and then you come to KYD and you get to escape for a moment and share in on the adventure. I've been a huge fan of them for many years now and I just can't get enough. We used to RV, then sold our 2019 Grand Design 32BHS trailer and F-250 during the pandemic. We do miss the family adventures. But these two always amaze me at the amazing relationship they seem to have as a whole and that's why I love this family! Happy New Year KYD - thanks for sharing...

Love Cabo and along with Puerto vallta, my wife and I go to Mexico every other year . We did notice Puerto is cheaper to stay there over Cabo. We stay in a condo on the beach and only eat out for dinner and do our shopping at Wal-Mart for other meals and drinks. You guys need a break enjoy.

So many people stranded (including my family), missing our families (possibly my last with my mom), wasted time in the airport (10 hrs, we were lucky, we could drive 2 hrs home), 2 weeks without our STUFF, having to buy new stuff, losing our airbnb money ($1275) and FINALLY getting our bags 2 weeks later..... NOT NOT NOT OK!

Another great video! FYI - a debit card with a Visa/Mastercard option provides full fraud protection just like a credit card. If your bank doesn't offer this it's time to change banks. One option we've used to limit exposure is to have a separate checking account tied to the debit card with limited funds in it. That way if the card is compromised your bill pays /auto withdrawals in your main account won't be jeopardized while you wait for the bank to put the money back into the account.

Regarding recreating some of the meals you have in the restaurants, I take a photo of my food with my iPhone then open the notes in the photo and type in any info (ingredients, flavors, etc.) I need to recreate the item when I get home. You can even categorize the photos in an album within your phone.

What seems to have been lost in the cuteness that is Caleb, the gorgeousness of the wave behind the seagulls, and the fun of Mexico in the winter is that there was a child at the airport who had been IMPALED BY A TREE!!! And everyone was all “Oh poor me, my flight’s been cancelled”. We are a heartless society. But what an uplifting video. Smiles all around (except the gruesome death-child). Seeing Cabo reminded me of the 80’s when we used to spend time in Acapulco. We loved going there. Nice seeing an area of Mexico not corrupted with crime. Unfortunately a medical diagnosis created a huge battle for me last January. Now I have to take things slow and very deliberate in walking, it will only worsen over time. I had to take a step back and accept where this was going. So for the last year we have been bucket listing items and heading out in our Motorhome. My New Year will be pushing past my limitations and seeing the US. I love watching your hikes through the parks seeing what I could never see on my own has been wonderful. Thank you.

My wife and I took our first cruise in October for our 25th anniversary, from LA to Cabo/Mazatlán/Puerto Vallarta. We did the "bus trip around town" excursion and really enjoyed the guy leading the bus. Cabo is the only port that has to be tendered in from the boat to shore, the others having dock space.
