Here in Europe, heating costs have gone up hugely since Russia invaded Ukraine. I bought a 250g merino base layer with funnel neck. It allows me not to turn on the heat unless it's below zero outside. It cost 110 euro ( about $130 ), but it has paid for itself already. It is bullet proof. The last one I had was 220g. I bought it in 2009 and it went around the world with me, from Central Europe, through Russia in the winter, Mongolio in deepest winter, China etc. Kept me warm all the way through. I only bought the replacement this season as finally, after 14 years of wear, the neck began to fray. Top Tip : Buy 100% Merino wool. If it's diluted with plastic, a) it can't be recycled so easily and b) you will smell.

Looks like a great trip. In a few of the camping spots, I see a storyteller beast. Did it do the same trails the jeeps did? Some of the trails look tough for a sprinter :)
