Aw man that sad I've had to fix that before and sometimes it takes out the storage compartment or battery box depending on what side it's on.

I use to have to do 2-3 78-79 vette rear ends a week back in the 80's for about 3 years. I was doing them in my sleep then wake up and have to go do it for real. lol

Indeed; I was able to get it off in 5 minutes with the ball joint splitter.

scottsinfi......In your opinion ! My Corvette rear wheels are shifted right , so the passenger wheel sits 1 inch out the wheel well and the driver side sits inward the wheel well. Can you share some light on a fix or the cause of that ? I'm wondering if the two bolts in the rear crossmember were loosened could the whole crossmember be shifted back left and fix the problem? Or, is the bolt holes in the crossmember the same size as the bolts with no room to shift, any help would be appreciated .

Is that jacked up or flat on the ground and does it change when you roll the car backward?
@scottsinfl5 жыл бұрын
The alignment will cause it to move in and out when the car rolls forward and backward depending on where its set.

Funny, I'm doing this exact same swap. I've got 3.08 gears and want to swap them with a 3.55 I picked up a few years back. I've never worked on a rear end before though. If I post a vid of what I've got can you give me some pointers on its condition and what I need to replace?

Sure can vette gears can be hard to set up if you are doing it for the first time. Also if its a used gear it will take a while to re-brake in or ware a new pattern into it like I did.

Excellent tip with the pickle fork. Are you using your engine picker to support the differential?

As he works on his car in shorts and short sleeves and sandals. Oh and with the garage door open. Nice.

Yea I use that thing for rear ends, transmissions, engines and once I pulled a body off a 72 vette with it.

+scottsinfl I've always thought about a lift plate for the engine hoist to drop things out the bottom. First time I've seen it done. Very cool.

I pull more transmissions than engines with that thing. I've got jigs made to mount to transfer cases also.
