The grinder disc removal tool works great for removing the bearing retainer ring.

Bearing with the retainer first, done up tight on internal hub shoulder. Bearing from brake drum side tapped in until just touching spacer.

Love this series, basket cases are always the most challenging but do provide the most satisfaction at the end of the project. The good news is that is a white light not a train coming. Good Luck & thanks again.

Dino - I have a suggestion for you. Instead of working on the floor or building another work bench buy a M/C lift. I have to deal with Arthritus in my joints and have remedied the kneeling and bending of hard positions. I purchasied a M/C lift table from Harbor Frieght. Moved my old comffy wheeled office chair out there and can work in comfort while rolling around the lift table. Right now I have an 1100cc motor on it with the case split. The table is on rollers too and can be moved to make additional room. Of corse it works very well with a bike parked on it too! Being adjustable for hight makes it perfect for an old coot like me. I enjoy watching your videos and am always looking for some tips. regards, Dale

I noticed on the later video where you put the wheel with the tire and drum brakes back on the bike, you went in from the opposite side with the axle bolt. I just changed my sprockets and rear brakes on my 750. It was a bit of a struggle getting the axle bolt in and lining up that spacer on the opposite side of the wheel. Next time I may flip the bolt around, which would make life easier. Can't imagine it makes a difference. You also take the chain tensioners off the back then undo 2 bolts slide the wheel out the back with the axle in place. Next time I may do that. It would be easier on my back. In that scenario you put the axle bolt, spacer and axle lock nut on the wheel and just slide everything in through those slots in the back.

I'm looking forward to this cb build your gonna be well challenged on all aspects of this bike. I didn't relies how difficult this build was gonna be until you started looking for stuff. Good luck and I'll be watching every step of the way :)

Great videos. Thanks a bunch. I have an old 72 cb750 in terrible shape that I'd like to rebuild. No garage and never breaking a bike down this far, or anything else for that matter, makes it extra challenging. I got the bike for $100 and I think the first step is building some kind of shelter to do the work in. My bikes wires have been removed so I'll be looking forward to your wiring videos. Also don't have the title. Be my luck I'll do a rebuild and have a titling issue in the end. Thanks again.

Love the bike vids! You should put a rear rim up front. Just lace it to the front hub. Looks awesome!

Good morning I'm in the process of restoring a 75 cb 750 super sport who would be a good source for parts? Thanks
@Pizzaesser6 жыл бұрын
Isn't it better for the material to heat up the wheel body slightly (~80°C) and freeze the bearing? Then the bearings falls down without use of a hammer and the seat of the bearing will last longer. The service manual of my MZ ETZ 250 tells me to do it this way.
@Koji4599 жыл бұрын
Can I ask where you found the reprint of the service manual? I just started my '80 cb750f supersport cafe project and all I've found so far is the Haynes and Clymer manuals

What would you have to do if you want to install taller rear shocks in an effort to raise the bike a bit

Hello! Saludos desde Costa Rica, where I can get a tool like that? The one that you bought originally for a BMW?? What's the name of the tool?

I wouldnt do it on a concrete floor. but then again its cafe racer. They are supposed to look beat up

I love your videos! But it hurts watching you work on bare concrete.. :( No spare towels or foam around?

I agree, great videos but watching you tossing those parts around and driving the wheel bearings in on the concrete was making me cringe. Finesse Mr. Segovis, finesse. :)
@Keith_Ward10 жыл бұрын
He needs about an acre of cardboard to crawl around on for that many parts!
@anonimuso10 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it be easier and save time to sit down one afternoon and sort your parts, bolts, nuts, etc? That way you can label everything once and not have to be on your hands and knees wasting time every build session.
@davidgyawn10 жыл бұрын
Good videos overall. But you are working with chrome on a bare concrete floor with no thought of scratching the shiny stuff! Put a mat down!

Please! Stop banging things on the concrete floor!!! It is driving me nuts......

Uses allballs bearings religiously, complains the shocks look cheap hahahahs
@keepitrunning10 жыл бұрын
I'd echo what other have said about bare concrete, I have pieces of old carpet which I use, both for me to sit/kneel on and for doing things on. Anyway, stop moaning about having to do it of the floor, it could be worse, you could just have a sloping concrete slabbed garden to do it all in.
