I love this Sheik for the sake of Allah (SWT). I think he has just left the UK and in maybe 6 or 7 days he gave lectures and talks in 10s of masajid all around the country not to mention individual podcasts and interviews with British Muslims. Further, everywhere he has gone has been packed out like a can of sardines. The Muslims even in a country thousands of miles come to listen to the Sheik amazing especially in the UK where our Islam is strong, large and well integrated into the society - and therefore have our own extremely knowledgeable Sheiks ourselves. This is not giving the Sheik any kind of undue compliments as he is *not* a a scholar and has made mistakes in the past, present and will do in the future no doubt (although we hope not). However, he admits this himself and has never even called himself a student of knowledge let alone any kind of alim

Allah is with those who trust in him and have full faith in him. I remember during sixthform, I always wanted to study under ustadh Imrans and the team but I never got the chance. I would always watch the videos and take benefits and lessons. Subahanallah after a few yrs I did and I benefited so much, and it was just a matter of time and effort, to actually get myself up and go to ustadh Imrans classes on the other side of London subahanallah. And with the community of sisterhood/ brotherhood ustadh has put together during these classes, I'm so grateful, Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah at least I went to one, and I went to ust uthman ibn Farooqs gathering. Alhamdulillah 100 times, I benefited so much. , The advice helps me till this day. Convey from me even one ayaah is very simple. It can be you teaching your siblings, children, parents something from the deen. It can be you conveying islam to your non muslim friends or colleages in a simple manner or during a certain topic. It can be sharing youtube videos or giving away books or pamphlets. It doesn't mean we have to go out in the street every day like Shaykh Uthman or engage in hourlong debates online with nonmuslims that would be incredible but unrealistic and that's why our Prophet made it easy for us and told us even one ayaah which means we can do it in any environment in a few seconds.

Allah says in the Quran, " And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favour and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply. " Chapter (45) sūrat l-jāthiyah (Crouching) Verse (45:13) - The act of thinking, reflecting, pondering, using ones mind are all demonstrations of intelligence that Allah has blessed us with. And for those especially who use that intelligence as Allah states clearly for those who think deeply - So I disagree i believe you need to be intelligent enough to build up and tailor an argument to respond to different questions. How can you say that its not about intelligence when Allah says that the Quran came down for a people who think !! that. Intelligence is also linked with wisdom , to be able to have the intelligence to apply that wisdom in the correct way. Also words alone must be explained not every part of the Quran or Sunnah is instantly intuitive to everyone it needs careful explanation that comes from someone who is intelligent enough to present those points in a sound way. For instance when your giving dawah in San Diego for you to go from each verse of the bible to contradict a statement from a Christian that takes a level of intelligence to gather those passages and verses with the intent to show contradiction. I really find it ajeeb for you to say otherwise ! - The Quran is a supremely sophisticated yet a simple message , but that doesn't mean that you can get someone who has no knowledge ( seeking knowledge requires intelligence ) to just give dawah without having understood any of the principles and mannerism on how to engage according to the Quran and Sunnah , the fact someone has to consider such things are also signs that a person must use their interlect.

Sheikh al Islam cleared everything and I hope anyone wants to understand the way of salaf to read what he said: قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله: (والسلف لم يذموا جنس الكلام فان كل آدمى يتكلم ولا ذموا الاستدلال والنظر والجدل الذى أمر الله به رسوله والاستدلال بما بينه الله ورسوله بل ولا ذموا كلاما هو حق بل ذموا الكلام الباطل وهو المخالف للكتاب والسنة وهو المخالف للعقل أيضا وهو الباطل فالكلام الذى ذمه السلف هو الكلام الباطل وهو المخالف للشرع والعقل) مجموع الفتاوى (13/ 147) " الفرقان بين الحق والباطل " وقال رحمه الله: (والسلف إذا ذموا أهل الكلام وقالوا علماء زنادقة وما ارتدى احد بالكلام فافلح فلم يريدوا به مطلق الكلام وإنما هو حقيقة عرفية فيمن يتكلم في الدين بغير طريقة المرسلين ... ) مجموع الفتاوى (12/ 460) وقال أيضاً: (فالسلف ذموا أهل الكلام الذين هم أهل الشبهات والأهواء لم يذموا أهل الكلام الذين هم أهل كلام صادق يتضمن الدليل على معرفة الله تعالى وبيان ما يستحقه وما يمتنع عليه ولكن قد يورث شبهة وهوى) درء تعارض العقل والنقل (3/ 374) وقال أيضاً: (هذه الطرق المبتدعة في الإسلام في إثبات الصانع التي أحدثها المعتزلة والجهمية وتبعهم عليها من وافقهم من الأشعرية وغيرهم من أصحاب الأئمة الأربعة وغيرهم قد طعن فيها جمهور العقلاء فكما طعن فيها السلف والأئمة وأتباعهم وذموا أهل الكلام بها .. ) درء تعارض العقل والنقل (4/ 3)

May Allah bless these brothers and reward them for their dawah. although I do have a little contention with the whole non use of philosophy in dawah. in this day and age we have to combat atheists/agnostics on a more intellectual/nuanced level because they have all been brainwashed to believe that anything to do with religion, scripture and even the word god is outdated and backward, so they almost role their eyes at the mere mention of these things (of course they are wrong) so when we can prove gods existence even in their fields, In their paradigm and with their lingo ie the contingency argument, then there is no get out of jail free card for them anymore. They have no excuse but to accept that there has to be a creator. How can making disbelievers believe in god be a bad thing and be against the sunnah? Obviously I may be wrong so please let me know if I am. May Allah guide us all ameen.

This is an example of 'NDS' or 'Najdi Docility Syndrome' which has unfortunately been plaguing the Ummah and covering up the rich intellectual heritage that Islam has to offer Non-Muslims. A branch of philosophy or logic is used to question the nature of different modes of research like scientific research and empirical observation, so it shouldn't be counted out as it is what the nonsensical 'atheistic' foundations and laughable 'arguments' are based upon, which ironically, refutes them. A non-Muslim can use a scientific evidence which contrasts the 'miracles' you have found and they are in their right to do so. You may be 'thrashed' in a debate. The correct way especially in this day and age where the 'liberal and Godless degenerate ideologies' have been spread by evil individuals with evil '*gend*s' in order to attack Muslims and the Ottoman Empire's ideological basis is to create an Islamic epistemology, stemming from the Quran and Sunnah and make that method prevalent in Dawah. This is a way of showing how the revelation and reason are in fact harmonious and one shouldn't disregard one or the other. Mohammed Hijab, Subboor Ahmad, Imran Hussein and others do this very well.

can we not use other means besides the Quran and Sunnah to make people think? isnt there an example of this in the Quran. Where prophet Ibrahim used his wisdom to make a misguided people who worshipped planets think in Chapter 6 Surah (al-An'am) verses 75-80

That is called anecdotal evidence. And you can use logic to prove that Allah exists because it mentions in the Qur'an to reflect and use our brains on the creation of Allah. Also to prove the Qur'an, the Qur'an itself uses many logical arguments to prove itself saying if it isn't from Allah then you will find many contradictions. Also saying the prophet, peace be upon him was a truthful, honest person and gave up all his wealth is a logical argument to prove he was a true messenger because if he was lying then why would he give up all those things and even his enemies attested to that. That is using logic and reason within the frameworks of Islam. However, you can not use philosophical arguments which are outside of the Qur'an and perform mental gymnastics to give dawah, as the sheikh mentioned.

I've heard some say you don't need to convince anyone of anything in Dawah, just quote Quran and sunnah and if they accept it they accept if not than so be it. But in that verse its showing us you can use wisdom in your Dawah, methods to expand there thinking instead of just telling it clear cut how it is which some say is the only way to give dawah, which would be outside of just Quran in sunnah, so wouldn't philosophy and science fall into those categories? I think you need to deal with people according to there understanding and there environment, not every audience is the same.

Ibn Taymiyya accepted a number of claims held by the Greek philosophers, such as Aristotle and even some pre-Socratic ones as well. Given that these two - as most Salafis - follow Ibn Taymiyya in his creed (they are literally quoting his arguments) they most probably also hold to his philosophy, and more specifically, his metaphysics, without knowing they make philosophical claims about the world, some of which are, perhaps, against the teaching of traditional Islam. Basically, they are unknowingly allowing for themselves what they forbid for others. Inconsistency.

I’m from NYC, I’ve never liked Dawah Man, always considered him an attacker of Khair and always trying to expose people more senior in knowledge than himself, but mashallah this was a great talk. I respect Uthman Ibn Farooqs point of leave the drama to your momma and prioritize your communities and calling people to what is true and correct.
