@hzuiel
@hzuiel 4 жыл бұрын
You should assume all makeup is non-vegan unless it specifically says otherwise. Seriously, you are talking about like 99.9% of cosmetics, there is no reason to make a list of them, the list of ones that are vegan is a hell of a lot shorter than ones that are not.
@AnnaCatherineB
@AnnaCatherineB 4 жыл бұрын
@@hzuiel I am more interested in the other things I listed.
@hzuiel
@hzuiel 4 жыл бұрын
@@AnnaCatherineB I don't know about cleaners, but conditioners and shampoos are often tested on animals unless they say otherwise, besides the ingredients. Clothes that are not made from animal sources fibers should be mostly vegan unless the raw materials were gathered using animal labor(mostly in 3rd world) and telling where the cotton in your shirt came from is probably pretty difficult, factories do not necessarily have the same supplier for raw materials even from one batch to the next. Rayon from bamboo almost certainly involves animal labor. I think basically what i'm getting at is with most things unless it explicitly says it is vegan, do not assume it is. If she made a list, there is nothing to say that from one day to the next that company might not switch ingredients or sources of ingredients and no longer be vegan, because they were not trying to be vegan on purpose in the first place.

in europe we have sometimes a symbol on the packaging saying if it’s vegetarian or vegan, do you don’t have this in the US? it’s not on all products, but it’s getting more common and i wish it would be mandatory.
@gyogamble9996
@gyogamble9996 4 жыл бұрын
We do have Vegan certified products that have a "V" logo on them. The company has to submit their food to the non-profit Vegan Awareness Foundation to gain the certification. It is not a governmental required certification so not all companies apply. Therefore, if a label has the "V" you know it is vegan; however, just because it does not have the "V" does not automatically mean it is not vegan. Hope that answers your question. :)

Johannes Franck the short answer is because the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US is a joke. Europe has done a much better job with labeling and ingredient integrity than this country.
@lxlamayw
@lxlamayw 4 жыл бұрын
i live in europe and i wish it was mandatory, but i also wish there were ‘grades’ of veganism on the packaging, (e.g: rated 1-5, so the lower end of the scale is just like cross contamination, but the higher end is where the food has been made in a separate, vegan factory) because i always see packaging that says it’s vegetarian, so i check the ingredients and there’s no sign of non-vegan foods in there, and it says ‘may be handled in the same factory as dairy’ so i consider it vegan to my personal diet. :D
@andersonsmith8625
@andersonsmith8625 2 жыл бұрын
@@lxlamayw Those warnings for 'made in the same factory' or 'may contain' are just legal protection in case of any allergic reactions or health issues accidental cross contamination could lead to. They aren't something you should have to worry about if you are vegan, the ingredients are all that matter and all that are in there. If they didn't put it on and a rare occurrence of contamination happened it'd be a massive hit to the company, potentially completely crippling them.
@discogoth
@discogoth 2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Our ingredients lists will say what’s in the product, so you can read that to see if there’s gelatin or whey or something. But many companies make “accidentally” vegetarian or vegan products and don’t advertise they’re vegetarian or vegan. If a product is deliberately made as a vegetarian/vegan food, they’ll market it that way and may have the V symbol or just say “suitable for vegetarians” or “vegan friendly”. But most of the things I eat aren’t intentionally marketed as vegan, even though they are.

Olivia Pfannebecker i became vegetarian when i was 8 or 9. Ever since i was a baby i refused to eat meat it was more of a taste thing rather than ethics. However They still made me eat some meat for protein. When i was around 8 or 9 i refused to eat meat after learning more about it we live in texas and are surrounded by bbq so it was hard for my family. As of now i am 15 and have been vegetarian this whole time when they have meals i can’t have i make frozen meals or salads my family has become supportive and i’ve been able to figure out vegetarian alternatives at restaurants and at home. You need to keep trying and explain why you’re doing it as well as take responsibility for the meals you have to make individually if this doesn’t work just stick it out until you can live on your own.

@@gracekralik6058 Your right, but we (Humans) have caused that problem by cross breeding sheep to give a higher yield of wool. In the wild pure breed sheep produce enough wool to protect them from the cold while still keeping themselves cool in summer thus not requiring sheering. Another animal humans have messed about with is chickens (no other bird lays an egg everyday except domesticated chickens who will lay unfertilised eggs daily. When we remove the egg the chicken then forces out another unfertilised egg as she hopes to be able to gather a clutch of eggs. Even wild ducks don't lay eggs everyday and every other species of wild birds only lay fertilised eggs).

@@ontez no, fish oil is used because it's rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which have health benefits but aren't considered vitamins! They are often rich in vitamins A and D3 as well (the levels can depend based on the fish source), but the primary reason is Omega-3's. Omega-3 fatty acids do have health benefits, but which benefits/to what extent is somewhat controversial (some benefits are confirmed, others have little scientific backing). Fish oil contains DHA and EPA fatty acids, there are lots of vegan sources for ALA fatty acid but not DHA/EPA, however our bodies can use ALA to synthesize the other Omega-3's.
@stringbing97
@stringbing97 5 жыл бұрын
wickedest-witch there are vegan algae based supplements that contain DHA and EPA just like fish oil supplements. Fish obtain and produce the long chain omegas through consuming algae, so the concept of vegan supplements is that you can get the same things the fish get from the algae itself instead of eating the fish that has eaten the algae.
