Excellent video. I watched from beginning to end. I was never bored. I just received an Invicta pro diver from Amazon. I had ordered a Orient searay2 and it arrived in a nice box.Looked fantastic but mine wouldn't run. I tried to make it work cause I wanted to keep it. But it wouldn't run and I sent it back to Amazon. Instead of refunding my money,they put the balance on a gift card. I ended up buying said Invicta. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. It came package at least as nice as my Tissot watch did,if not better. It's only been a day but this watch looks,runs, and feels like a quality watch.It may fall apart tomorrow and I still won't be out much. I have several swiss made watches and several more that were much less expensive. The Invicta is now the cheapest one I own. I'm wearing this one right now and keeps excellent time. I was working in water a whole day with it on and not a single problem with that. The lume is great compared to other more expensive watches i have. Everything lines up on the watch as does with my other 5/6 Invictas. You really can't go wrong with these watches with the price bracket. If you want to pay a bit more for a good budget watch then get an Orient or Seiko for around £170-£270.

Really great video; thank you for taking the time to make it. I have one of these watches and, honestly, dollar for dollar it's the best watch value there is. It's an absolute tank with a Seiko movement - for under $100. I have a number of much more expensive watches, but I tend to wear this a lot because of the durability, accuracy, and the fact that I don't really worry if the watch gets dinged or scratched.

I got mine in 2017, the 8926OB, for $56 delivered. This is by far the toughest watch I’ve ever owned. It has been dropped onto concrete from a height of 9 feet, smacked against metal semi-trailer frames, endured the vibration from Stihl weedeaters, chainsaws and Harley motorcycles. I have beat the crap out of this watch for 5 years now. No other watch has lasted half as long.

Now at least someone noticed this amazing deal from Invicta. I have been buying Invicta for a few years already, they use Seiko movements and they are so reliable and accurate! I own 60+ watches ranging from Casio all the way to an Omega golden watch, and I am a mechanical inclined person. Don’t expect a Rolex or equivalent brand, but for under $100 that’s the best you can get for something looks like a diving watch. However I won’t be using it as a true diver watch anytime though, don’t mess around with a watch if your life is depended on it!

Great video and an answer from an engineer to those collectors who think that quality is all about money. I now have three Invictas and they are perfect for experimenting with different straps. All have a fantastic look on the ‘Nato’ strap. I love the look and quality of these watches and admire the mechanical movement, especially from a respected brand like Seiko. They also don’t pretend to be anything else by boldly engraving their moniker on the side of the watch casing. I personally wouldn’t use it for snorkelling or swimming, I have an Oris and Seiko Propects for that purpose, but I’m sure they are perfectly adequate. Good review👍

This is a remarkable video. I’ve been looking to watchmaking for some time now and it’s taken me a very long time to find a video as explanatory yet concise as this one. The Seiko NH 35 is perhaps the most ubiquitous movement in the world. For good reason. It’s solid and by the looks of it relatively less finicky than more complex Swiss movements. It is remarkable how Invicta can essentially build an $18 watch that is not completely crappy. Thank you for this video it has really helped my understanding of this hobby/profession.

@floridaredneck11 ай бұрын
I noticed your "budget" comment, so I wanted to tell you, you're not missing all that much with the genuine article. I had this Invicta watch in two-tone (9028) and loved it. Then, I went to the Bahamas and saw the two-tone 18K/SS Rolex Submariner it replicates for $5,000 (it's $30,000 now). They were $6,000 in the US, but also tax. Paying no mind to multiple pina coladas, it was an enormous expense, but my VISA allowed me to do it (along with the rum), so I did. It came with a beautiful wood box I had to leave behind, in order not to have to deal with duty. If you're wearing it, they can't say you got it there if you don't have the box (and the jeweler would not ship it). The thing of a lifetime was now on my wrist. I appreciated it all the time, I even slept with it on, but that's not unusual for me not to take my watch off; they're like rings to me; I keep them on in bed, at the gym, during sex, showering, bike rides, etc.) . It wasn't all that long that kept looking at it and admiring it, until I realized why I was studying it so intensely. I discovered I had loved the anticipation of owning it, more than actually owning it. It was like wanting to see a movie, having that anticipation, then when you've seen it, it's over. It was a great movie; do I want to see it again? It was the most beautiful watch I owned. I had loved it for years before, and only dreamed of owning one. My dream came true, but it changed the moment it wasn't a dream anymore, but it took me a little while to figure it out. I ended up selling the watch a couple years later, and at a loss at that. I didn't know the market, but it doesn't matter now. I do regret selling it, but I did need the money at that time. I do however remember that experience and it has served me well. Now those things I want really bad aren't things I want so bad after all. I now know the difference in anticipation of having something, and then actually having it. I lost money on that watch, but the experience was extremely valuable. I don't go around anymore thinking, "I wish I had one of those". Things I once thought were impressive, really aren't. I have $113 to go before my car is paid for (this month!). It looks and drives great for a 6 year old car; I bought it new. I could have bought a new car a long time ago, but guess what I learned? A new car would do nothing for me. It would drive the same and get me to the same places. There's nothing wrong with the one I have and I've just given myself a $325 a month raise by not buying a new one! I couldn't justify that Rolex and I can't justify a new car. I'm back to wearing my Invicta watches and I love them now like I used to. Oh sure, I look down and miss the Rolex crown on the face sometimes, but I smile inside, because of the lesson I learned. It's not fun not to want something, not to wish for or anticipate, but be realistic about those feelings, why you feel that way and how you will feel when your wish comes true. Rolex is beautiful, don't get me wrong. I'm simply not in the income bracket not to be bothered by the cost. There's also no reason for a redneck in Florida to be walking around with a Rolex anyhow. The newness of such a purchase comes and goes very quickly, no matter what it is really. Coming from someone who knows, you're really not missing anything except a huge monthly bill years into the future. I actually wanted a motorcycle and getting one of those and wearing an Invicta is a lot more practical.
@who39911 ай бұрын
@floridaredneck congrats on finishing off your car payments. That must be a relief finally 😀 oh I'm not one for fancy for fancy sake, but something about the Rolex and Cadillac I just adore. My grandfather came to Canada with nothing but the clothes on his back and was able to obtain all the status quo symbols of success like the Cadillac and Rolex and other things of that nature by working hard and paying his dues so I want to live up to that. Crazy I know, but it's what I like. I have a few invicta watches, and they're all fantastic. However, I'm looking to sell a couple of them just so I can get some smaller sized watches. Honestly, the name of the watch shouldn't matter as long as you like it, I like Mr. Jones watches because they have unique qualities like scenery that moves in the watch face, and pieces of the scene are the hands of the watch, and they are under 1000$ for the top model. I do understand the falsehoods of therapy that shopping gives you it's almost worse than drugs, and regardless of what you spend and how awesome the things you bought are, it literally fades in a moments notice. What's the best memory of your current car?

I was at an appointment with my cardiologist one day and noticed he was wearing what appeared to be an 8926 Invicta. I asked him about it and he took it off and showed it to me. It looked identical to my watch but up close you could see and feel the difference.

It's not common to find an Invicta with an ETA movement, at least not in a mechanical timepiece. Most of the Swiss made Invicta watches that are mechanical have a Sellita SW200-1 movement, which is basically a clone of an ETA 2824-2. Only few Invicta models have an ETA movement, usually in a quartz or the rare ETA 7750. Since ETA now only makes movements for specific brands, the Swiss made Invicta watches use movements made by Sellita

The pro diver is a great value for what you get this was a great explanation of why the Pro diver is better than what most people think about it because of its price. It would be interesting if they step up with ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal to see how the market reacts.

Thanks for doing this. I have one of these and I’m astounded that they can make a profit making these. Mine keeps great time, the amplitude is good and the beat error is about 1 msec. The case and bracelet are really solid, and the dial and hands are spectacular. It’s a hacking movement and it’s got a see-through case back. As a novice watch repair tech I would service this without sweat, because I could replace it for a fraction of the price of having it serviced by a professional watchmaker. This has to be one of the best values for money in the watch business. I don’t have a horse in this race but I think Invicta has won the triple crown with this winner.
@vonkruel2 жыл бұрын
I think 1 ms BE is a bit high, but if it's keeping time well enough for you it doesn't actually matter. I recently regulated the NH35 in my Phoibos Leviathan, and the lever for correcting beat error is a tricky thing to interact with. You want to give it _tiny_ nudges, but it's easy to give it a big shove by accident. Also, the balance is right underneath and if you foul that you'll feel very bad. Anyhow, I absolutely agree the value proposition in these watches is really tough to beat. I don't know if I'd spend the time to service an NH35 even if I was capable of doing so (not yet!!). They're just so cheap, they last, and they're a perfect choice for watches like this. I recently bought a Zelos Hammerhead with an NH35, and I'm completely happy with it in that USD$350 diver as well. Enjoy your watch!

Honestly, these days not all Chinese watches can be sniggered at anymore. I recently bought a Pagani Design Sub homage because I'd read so many good things about them and at the price it seemed rude not to. Build quality is easily on par with the current generation Seiko 5's but at a third the price. You get stainless construction and unlike the Seiko, ceramic bezel insert, sapphire, solid end links, screw in links and a nice clasp. The NH35 was running about - 15 but I've regulated it to +10 per week. I'm blown away by what you get for the money, and I'm not sniggering anymore. In the case of that Invicta, I might be a little concerned about that yellow finish they've used on the rota. As standard the NH35 is bare metal so hopefully the finish they've used to individualise won't start flaking away over time and infect the movement.

I actually really liked this overall. I'm not an ivory tower watch snob, but from my zeal with other hobbies where performance is comparatively appreciable among those involved enough to notice it, I do see where they could be coming from and appreciate the ability to balance "best-bang-for-buck" where it matters based on the intended user. And for most folks on a budget (but willing to invest in more than what Walmart or Amazon dropshippers have to offer) this seems to be very much where it's at. I've heard the name Invicta with all sorts of inconclusive and hyperbolic descriptions in various forums on either end of the spectrum, but this level-headed breakdown really does makes me willing to try them and see how it goes. (Especially for 60ish dollars like wtf who fucking cares for a non-quartz movement at a sub-$200-300 pricepoint)

Honestly, I am not a fan of Invicta but my first budget collection buy was the '1953' Invicta Pro Diver Black Dial Coke Bezel Model 34334. and was just shy of a $100 shipped. It had been an amazing daily wear and other than the cheap-ish pressed clasp; the overall construction, style, even precision of the moment has been one heck of a great deal! I use the hacking to sync up with some software at work to help time when I need to pull reports and this watch keeps better time than my Bulova w/ Miyota 8-series movement. So well, in fact that I thought my Bulova had a bad movement (until I looked up the specs, that is!) This watch has swiftly become a benchmark for me when doing a little budget watch collecting and I have a hard time justifying anything sub-$400 as a result. I mean, what fun is getting a bunch of other cheap divers with the same, if not similar movements when this one fills that niche so well and does it cheaply enough that I won't cry over the typical daily scuffs n' scratches?

Pretty good deal I think, especially since Seiko has gone nuts with the Seiko 5 prices, they are absolutely not worth the money nowadays.

This was my first mechanical watch and it was great. The value made this watch better than anything in the market.

I got hooked on Invictas 10 or 15 years ago and have several grand (47 mm) pro divers in automatic and quartz. A beautiful blue 39 or 40mm pro was my first Invicta automatic. I gave it to my son. It still runs just fine, shows little signs of wear and still gets compliments. I don't know what the early movements are, but all of mine are trouble free and often asked about when I wear them.

Love the video... I have a all sorts of watches (Oris, omega, invicta, bulova) have had many invictas of all sorts and never had an issue and all are still running (automatic and quartz). Never understood the hate they got after I got into watches and have been complemented almost every time I wear one of the pro/grand diver

Great video! I have several of these Invicta watches. I've got the large yellow dive case that holds 8 watches. I love them all. Not one of my Invicta watches has ever failed me. The only thing I've ever had to replace is one of the pins in the wristband links. It was my fault that I broke it. Other than that, I highly recommend Invicta watches. You get superb quality, nice looking aesthetics, reliable and accurate performance, and prices that can't be beaten.

I've owned a circa 2000 Omega Seamaster. I ended up selling it after 12 years of daily use. Three years ago I bought a Invicta Grand Diver for $100 USD delivered. I wear it everyday keeps excellent time, and absolutely love it. It does everything the Seamaster did for far less money.

Wonderful video. When i was a kid I often got in trouble for disassembling clocks =D I just recently purchased the Invicta S1 Rally Men's Watch - 48mm, Steel (23086) which is in delivery. Watching your video helped calm my doubts. Thank you.

My father gave me a two tone version when i was 16 years old. I am 43 years old today have a massive watch collection and honestly that INVICTA is still working with zero issues. Not like my datejust thats been serviced 3 times or my navitimer that stopped working a year into owner ship.

One problem that seems to crop up is that some of their gaskets end up unlubed, and end up leaking, even when handwashing dishes and the like. Simple to fix, but a weird thing to need to fix. Had the issue on my 37mm quartz version. That one has a pretty terrible movement, btw.

Good point, definitely something that would be interesting to explore. Im searching for a pressure tester to hopefully use in future videos, if I can get one, I’ll put this Invicta to the test!

@@eagles4757, I have heard people say that a lot but they sport around micro brands that have the same NH35 movements. For the price point, they are hard to beat. The Invicta 1953 doesn't have all of the retail branding that the Invictas normally have.

@@MSGBlair I agree my point is I can't wrap my head around these folks who have huge Invicta collections when that same $$ can in mind be better spent on a Speedmaster or Submariner watches with real history.

Excellent class! I ordered a Grand Diver with a yellow dial and, indeed, the price seemed fair to me for the external characteristics and the Seiko movement. 🌟
