That rice water collection has bad reviews across the board! This is why brands need to stop bombarding the market with new lines, and focus more on selling things that are tried and true. However, I will keep using the babassu mint deep conditioner. That's the one thing Mielle has on 🔐.

That is the best way of learning and experiencing your natural hair for yourself so you won't have to rely on hair typing systems and the sort as the end-all-be-all to understanding your hair. Ok now that i've caught the rest of the live, there was no bashing in that mielle organics review. That whole back in forth from the owner was a turn off. I won't be buying mielle organics. I'll be honest i've never been wowed by their products either. After years of click bait lines and flaky products, I kinda stop using mielle anyway. I support other black own hair products. I realize many people want someone to explain and simplify their natural hair for them. Everyone's hair is as unique as their fingerprint. There are so many other factors that determine the state and condition of your hair but for some reason people cling to curl pattern, porosity, density and texture as a means of creating a guide to compare. Natural hair isn't something you can explain thru text, charts, and pictures. You have to experience it and learn it for yourself. Yeah learning all of the other things help give some perspective but people put way too much focus and emphasis on it.

Wowwwww that Mielle section was some TEA 🐸🍵 On one hand, I can understand Monique being upset about a negative review & wanting people to know she's passionate and not money grabbing. But In that case, come out with a proper statement/press release about your line. Arguing or going back & forth with consumers looks very small & unprofessional. Black owned brands ESPECIALLY have to maintain that level of dignity & professionalism to stay competitive. This whole thing just makes me not want to buy from her. That's too bad. 😔
@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod 4 жыл бұрын
I agree. There's a way to do it without coming off so extremely defensive. For example: "thank you for taking the time to review our products... I'm sorry you didn't get the results you were looking for, maybe next time you could try using it like this... I want you and your viewers to know that I am passionate about my products and haircare and would never just put out products that I don't stand by 1000%...“ She should have taken a step back and calmed down before she replied to everyone. When you feel like you are being attacked, especially for your character, it would make anyone go on the offensive, but most people probably wouldn't have made this situation as big as they did if she didn't lash out the way she did. I hope she makes a public apology for her actions if she hasn't already.

I agree. I think we as black people we want a particular image of us in media. As far as the kid ad the other kids had messy hairstyles but with longer hair, I don't think it's necessarily a texture thing. I think people had a problem with the length. THANK YOU! I personally think people who don’t have a curl pattern should get a classification of their own. I’m tired of seeing people patronize other people for not having definition or weighed down hair after caring for and moisturizing it. Curl definition and sheen *does not* equate moisturized hair for everyone.❤️ I had a roommate who did a BUZZ CUT because she thought it was heat damage after transitioning. *It grew back the exact same way-zero curl definition.* Didn’t matter how much water/product/treatment she used, didn’t matter how long it grew-nothing. This is why people need to stop basing what a curl type is off *their own hair.* Classifications come from a *collective,* so if you don’t work with a variety of hair, Sis...how would you know what 4whatever is??👀

My hair does not have a visible curl pattern. I think the real problem with the add is what you said, it's a bad representation for dark skinned black girls with 4c hair. They didnt take care of it before forcing it into that "messy" pony tail. They need to MOISTURIZE her hair properly to make it malleable safely it looked like it was forced into that pony tail dry with some water. No leave in, nothing. They could have done something like what you said like mini twists with some frizz. They definatelyndidnt have a stylist on that shoot that knew how to do her hair that's disrespectful. I've been on shoots and no one knew what to do with my hair. Her hair is probably damaged from being a child model. They are very rough with hair and 4c hair cant take that much manipulation

I literally see no difference in the black girl's hair and the others in H&M ad, sorry. Because of he texture and length, there was not much they could do with a bun/puff. I think it speaks to how uncomfortable we still are with seeing 4C messy. All the kids have edges that are not going into the bun/ponytail. The only difference is her hair doesn't hang down on the black girls. It sticks out like 4C hair does. We hate seeing it that way. I think many are just triggered by what they don't like about their own 4C hair. What were they supposed to do with her texture and length of hair if they wanted a messy bun/pony like the other girls? So should they have given her a neater afro? Should they have slicked her edges? Why? That defeats the purpose. They didn't slick anyone else's edges. So what is the appropriate hairstyle for her? I've yet to see anyone suggest something. Because if you say it should have been more presentable then that defeats the purpose given this was supposed to be messy. I'm sorry, but that puff is the equivalent given the texture differences. If she had 3C curls, the shorter hairs would have hung down her neck and people wouldn't have cared.

IMO, the problem with the hm ad was that the little black girl’s hair was just messy while the other little girls had “styled” messy hair. I think there is a way to style kinky hair to look messy in a stylish way but that comes with experience with natural hair. Maybe we are expecting too much from others when most of us don’t even wear our natural hair. I do agree with her statement that black people don’t like black hair but I can’t stand when naturals complain about representation while not wearing their natural hair in the video. It’s just a little pet peeve. I do feel bad for the little girl. I hope she wasn’t affected by the internet outrage.

Hmmm.. 🤔 I may be in the minority here, but I think black people can be their own worse critics sometimes. I never understood the HM ad criticism. The same people upset at the HM ad were talking about Gabby Douglas' hair during the London Olympics. She was an athlete for God's sake; her hair is not going to look perfect. Simone Biles & Clarissa Sheilds faced this as well ..And outside of sports-- I remember people CRUCIFYING Blue IVY Carter when she was a baby for her hair. A very large percentage of those comments about the hair being "messy", "unkempt", "uncombed", "nappy" etc were from black women. Why do we personally put black models, athletes, singers, KIDS, under such a scope of needing to look perfect all the time? I taught in elementary schools & many black girls looked like that model. Let's not pretend like we don't see messy hair very often. xD I understand racist systemic nuances that have conditioned us to feel this way, but literally at times it's gone too far--becoming so internalized we shoot ourselves in the foot. Even when I first went natural and bigchopped, the BRUNT of the criticism I received was from black women. We need to do better lifting each other up. 😔♥️

I don't think "styles" messy is a thing black people are neat freak when it came to hair. There is not one black hair style who can be considered messy. Most people who have issue with this little girl wanted edge control on that little girl hair. The question is why are we so obsess with " neat"or "done" hair so much so that some of us don't have edges any more
@ladonna1902
@ladonna1902 4 жыл бұрын
@@lynebessi4410 I'll be so glad when this edges or baby hair trend is over. Because to me it looks women pasting and gluing their hair to their foreheads. Some women even went as far as relaxing their edges to get them to lay down. My edges don't lay down no matter how much product or edge control I put on them. The few times I have tried to lay my edges, they curled up as soon as I sweated or took a shower. So I just let my edges do what they do and they want to curl up into coils.

@@alyariel9713 I was so done when people were complaining about Gabby Douglas and some of the other black female athletes at the Olympics. It was nobody but other black women complaining. These are some of the top athletes in the world. What was ironic is that one of the women that was complaining looked overweight from the looks of her avatar. These women are out here winning gold medals. But one of the women complaining looks like she would be out of breath if she climbed a flight of stairs.

As far as the H&M ad. Im wondering how many stylist that looks like you and me was working on that ad. I grew up with natural hair. There is so many children who's parents have relaxed their child's hair. They don't even know how to care for their own. There is a lot of black stylist who don't have a clue as to what to do with natural hair unless it's relaxed. I have seen countless celebrities interviews, and they have complained about stylist not knowing what to do with their hair. I encountered a lot when I was in cosmetology school. I would get the clients with natural hair because the instructors didn't even know what to do. Thank God for my upbringing. My granny taught me well about natural hair. I have passed it on to my daughter's. I am trying to save and promote healthy hair one afro puff at a time.❤️

Why can't theses companies have just one brand that truly works. I stop believing in the company when I start to see several "growth" products. I just do and use whatever. My hair grows fine for five dollars or less.
@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod 2 жыл бұрын
People have different expectations on what it means for a product to "work." One of the biggest reasons why these companies are profiting so much is because people want instant gratification and instant results. The products don't make your hair grow or flourish; they assist and help to promote healthy hair growth. Once people begin to understand that their hair is not something to be fixed and something to be accepted and learned they will not become victims of natural hair commercialism.

I have to agree with Monique to a certain extent, the last 2 mins of the video Linda's tone changed and she went from addressing Mielle to addressing Monique and straight out calling her a money grab. I can see why she was offended. The problem is how this whole thing has been addressed by Monique and her husband. It's not acceptable or professional, and I think sometimes these companies take black consumers for granted when they get established.
@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod 4 жыл бұрын
Regardless of how her tone shifted, it's her opinion and her thoughts. I agree with you, it's how Monique responded. She has a right to feel offended and to try to defend her products and her character. I'm sure Linda has done reviews raving about Mielle products in the past promoting and supporting her business. To throw that all away and turn on her because of one disapproving review just to harass and attack her is unacceptable. When you are the face of a business and brand you have to conduct yourself accordingly. I can never support Mielle after how this has all went down. They both need to maybe have a live stream together so that they can hash and talk this out, resolve this conflict, and save the look of her brand and business.

That whole bashing of Lynda was in poor taste. Seen plenty of her other reviews of Mielle from her she always gave them the best reviews. I thought she was getting free products and being paid for them. When I did buy their products it’s the Rosemary Mint or the White Peony loved that leave in. But after all that with Lynda I’m not buying them until Mielle finds themselves and learns how to talk to a valued customer. They wasn’t giving her any handouts but anywho.I like what your doing here I actually learn a few things here and find people I don’t know to follow. Like Tay Pancakes she’s funny so I had to go follow her. Oh and her hair was probably lighter in the front because she started in the front when she bleached her hair and dyed it. But it came cute when she was done anyway.

Regarding the H&M ad, the little girl's hair looked straightened and damaged. Clearly her hair didn't come out of her head like that. It would've been different if the hair was looking healthy. We all know how black kids go to school with a neat hairstyle and come back home with lots of flyaways because they've been playing all day. This wasn't it and to me as well the hair itself (not the hairstyle) looked unkept.
