You should send those Vibergs back to get relasted. You don’t wear them much and you have a large rotation, so you won’t really miss them while there are away. It would also be better in the long run

You guys might as well learn from my sizing mistakes so here a bunch of info on how I’ve sized those brands I am a 10C on the brannock. I wear 10.5 in most sneakers. Most heritage boots I wear 9.5D Sagara Trailmasters, 43D, Morgan Last, custom measurements, first order from brand - little tight in the toes but 100% wearable. I catch myself not wearing them as often because of it but I still wear them 2-3 times a month. Aldens, 9.5C, Trubalance Last, no measurements, second order from brand - the uppers touch on all the eyelets so I can’t fully tighten. Still 100% wearable just a little floppy. Doesn’t really deter me from wearing them Wesco, 10D/9.5D, 9109 last, custom measurements, first order from brand - 10D way too big and uppers too big. Mostly wearable but very distracting because of the uppers being too big, I only wore them for a day or two before I decided to cut them in half. Nicks NDC, 9.5D, HNW last, custom measurements (I think), several orders from brand - fits perfectly but I have also worked with nicks a ton and have tried on 10-15 of their boots so I know the fit significantly better than the rest. Hope this helps y’all get your sizing better than me!

Dear @RoseAnvil (Weston), as I'm sure you've seen from my previous comment, I would like to highlight the ethical issues around shark leather. I'm pretty sure I've heard you say in previous videos, that one of the reasons you like cow leather, is because it's sustainable. Shark leather is not. I urge you to look at the scientific data on this. All shark populations are declining rapidly. This is backed up by scientific research and incontrovertible date. It's extremely harmful to ecosystems and communities of people around the world (for a variety of reasons that are too complex to get into here). Despite what these leather websites and suppliers tell you, there are currently no sustainable shark fishing practices and most of it is illegal. Some of the criminal organizations actually use slaves on their boats. It's horrific. This might not seem relevant but much of the "legal" stuff actually has illegal origins. This is the consensus of dozens of marine biologists, researchers and journalists. Many leather distributers disagree but they are misinformed and have misaligned incentives. There is no reason for fishing sharks. Nobody relies on them for food and they are a luxury item. Imagine how different this would be if you had lion skin boots! I'm pretty sure your channel would have been taken down by now. The crazy thing is that this is actually worse. The environmental impact of losing sharks will be catastrophically worse than losing lions. The only difference with sharks is that people just don't know about the problems I'm trying to highlight. I want to be clear that I'm a fan of all your channels and don't blame you in any way for buying these shoes. I also don't blame Bagus. I'm assuming that neither of you knew about these issues and that's why I'm trying to educate people. Here is some information that will hopefully help you to see where I'm coming from. -- The scientific consensus on this topic is in the following quotes but here's a quick summary incase you don't want to read it all. If we lose sharks (which we are currently on course to do) our oceans will be destroyed. This means no more fish to eat and any communities that rely on fishing will fall apart. This is a huge problem and I urge you to do your own research into it. Don't just take my word for it. - "shark leather (also known as shagreen) is not typically considered sustainable for several reasons. 1. Overfishing and Population Decline: Many shark species are threatened or endangered due to overfishing, often driven by the demand for shark fin soup and other products. Using shark skin for leather could contribute to this pressure, even if the leather is a byproduct of the food industry. 2. Ecosystem Impacts: Sharks play a crucial role in marine ecosystems, helping to control the populations of other species and maintain balance. A decline in shark numbers can have wide-reaching impacts on the health of these ecosystems. 3. Ethical Concerns: Sharks are often caught and killed in inhumane ways, such as finning, where the fins are cut off and the shark is thrown back into the ocean to die. 4. Lack of Regulation: The fishing and trade of many shark species are not well-regulated globally, making it difficult to ensure any shark leather product has been sourced in a sustainable way." -- "Sharks play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems as apex predators. If sharks were to go extinct, there could be significant ecological repercussions, which may include the following: 1. Trophic Cascade: A decline in shark populations can result in a trophic cascade, where changes at one trophic level (the sharks) can lead to changes at lower trophic levels (their prey and the organisms their prey eat, etc.). This can cause shifts in the types and abundance of other species in the ecosystem. 2. Predator-Prey Balance Disruption: Sharks often prey on the sick and weaker members of other fish populations, which can help to keep those populations healthier overall. Without sharks, these fish populations might grow, but they could become less healthy and more susceptible to disease. 3. Increase in Mid-Level Predators: The removal of sharks from an ecosystem could result in an increase in the number of mid-level predators, which can then cause a decline in the number of smaller herbivorous fish. These smaller fish are often important for controlling the growth of certain types of algae on coral reefs, and without them, the reefs could be at risk. 4. Commercial Fisheries Impact: Changes to fish and other marine species populations can also disrupt commercial fisheries. For instance, a decline in shellfish populations due to an overgrowth of their predators (which sharks would typically control) could have significant economic impacts. 5. Biodiversity Loss: Sharks are a diverse group of species, each playing a unique role in their ecosystem. Their loss would result in a decrease in marine biodiversity, potentially destabilizing marine ecosystems." ****SO TO SUM UP **** I would appreciate a response to this comment. At least an acknowledgment that you're now aware of the ethical issues and that you'll look into it. I think the responsible thing to do (especially for someone who's into sustainability such as your self) would be to update the description of this video with some more information on the topic. Ideally addressing it in a future video also. Like I said before, I do not in any way blame you for buying these shoes. But now that you're (hopefully) more informed on the topic, I do think you have a responsibility to share this information with your followers. I really do hope you'll do this and I look forward to hearing from you :)

Hey @RoseAnvil @ RoseAnvil2 Weston. I't's been 24 hours since I shared my concerns about this video and I still haven't gotten a response. I'm not asking for a lot. It's not like I'm asking you to take the video down or anything. I just want you to acknowledge the ethical concerns. I'm trying to be reasonable and fair here. So I'm happy to wait another 24 hours. But if I haven't heard from you then, I don't know what else I can do other than report the video. I REALLY don't want to do that. But if you're not going to acknowledge this issue then I don't see what other options I have.

I used to love sharks skin leather due to it begin 100% waterproof until I found out that stingray leather is more durable doesn’t deteriorate, degrade, fade, and fray. It’s a great leather if you want an exotic leather that can take a beating also it’s waterproof as well and don’t cost as much as shark skin leather is. I can now see why stingray leather was used in history because it was an exotic leather that can take a beating but also doesn’t require a lot of maintenance compared to shark skin and the standard leather that’s out there

Not in my experience. I have both and the sharkskin is holding up way better. Stingray tend to have those calcium beads fall off easily, specifically on the areas that crease near the ankles. It's also where the beads tend to be smaller. The vamp is fine tho, where most shoe/boot makers have the center-hide make it out of (where the beads run the largest), but I've seen some vintage ones where the beads get chipped at the toe. Also, stingray tend to stand out in a bad way. It looks feminine with how beady and sparkly it is, specially with the caviar finish. You'll get rude homophobic comments if you wear them in places where most people don't know anything about exotics.

@vr6glx96
@vr6glx96 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. It's not a hobby for me. I just want a quality boot. I ordered the drifter 2.0 from whites and I'm crazy worried about the fit. Worried I didn't measure correctly and all that stuff and the anxiety of what do I do if it doesn't fit. Especially considering the wait time and all that. I have a feeling that this is just the beginning, because now I'm looking at Nicks and several other brands. It started with "oh, I'm tired of buying $200-$300 boots every 6 months or so, I just want to buy a boot that will last a decade" to "wow look at all these cool boots, I want more". For reference, I pretty much exclusively wear Thorogood boots right now and I love them. They are more comfortable than any shoe I wear, especially after break in. I can't imagine what a high end hand made boot is like. I will say that the soles on Thorogood boots do not last long at all. I'm hoping the White's I got will last much longer. Im excited and worried at the same time. Funny thing is, my last name is White. So not only has White's been around since 1853 and they still make boots the old school way, the guy who started it has the same last name as me. When I hear their story and how long they have been around and how they make them, it gives me goosebumps. That is something to be proud of.

Bagus was really great to work with. I generally like to let the artisan have a lot of input and influence on what they are making. I made the general choices and he had good suggestions on what would work and what wouldn't etc. He didn't let me make a bad decision basically. I have a pair of the Valiant in black shark skin lowers and natural Chromexcel uppers on the way. Looking forward to trying them on because he offered a customized pattern because of the way I wanted them to fit around my ankle / lower leg. Mine are skinny as well and was somewhat disappointed how Onderhoudes boots fit around my shin because the uppers touched.

I honestly think that a big problem is: ordering boots online…….I’ve ordered several pairs now, from various companies and it really seems to be a bit of a crap shoot whether or not they fit properly. I know this isn’t a popular opinion, among sellers especially, but in my experience it’s the biggest hurdle between getting a great fit and a crap fit. If possible, buy your boots from a store, and try them on.

Really cool, Weston! For me, being a Dutch European, the more pointy lasts are not a problem. Perhaps because Indonesia is a former Dutch colony?

I like those camel city mill socks. I only have lightweight so far, but would have no problem buying thick socks for winter.

I've got a few casual boots, and the way I've always seen it doesn't matter what I wear if my shoes are nice it doesn't matter.

id really love a look at the viberg 310. i just think its pretty special. it reminded me of the nail shank boot from kresote but not at pricey. i love the look of it being old fashioned but still classy.

I'm not a huge fan of pointy boots either...but those look great with the "slimish" back denim. Not too pointy. Congrats!!

Grants on the milestone Weston. Those boots are absolutely gorgeous and you really suit them. You look good with the narrow toe. It’s nonsense that you don’t look good with that style. My husband loves nice shoes and boots...on me 🤣

You got the jeans right but you want something more punk rock for the top. T shirt and an asymmetrical jacket would work for me.

As a kid from the sixty, there were small butcher shops. all the butchers wore boots with the soles like the ones you have on these boots. What are they called? it kept the meat from sticking to the soles.

I work in building maintenance so that means I cover all bases. Ladder work , floods , electrical, painting, pressure washing. Window washing, and I’ve worn out just about every major brand of American made boots. Red wing, Chippewas, Frye, Addison , Knapp , Danner , dr.Marten,etc wi. Haven’t tried any of the pacific nw style fireman boots. So if there’s any of these major brands that want an honest review of on the job site use hmu.

Sagara’s boxing is just like Grant Stone’s - very elegant. Sharp boots!
Have brands sued me for exposing them?
