November was busy. I could have NOT taken a vacation on days off and picked up more flying. Sometimes it is nice to relax and enjoy life versus always being concerned about money.
The first 3 trips all have VLOGs about them if you are interested.
I did try and condense this video to save you some time.....if I moved to fast let me know.

Thank you for the video again. Also, I always appreciate it whenever pilots choose jump seats. I nonrev on a lot of regional jets so there aren't many seats. A pilot taking the jump seat has been a life saver for me.

If you’re ever bored in London I highly recommend the play Operation Mincemeat at the Fortune Theatre. It’s a WW2 musical and I throughly enjoyed it!

Your videos are so interesting. I have always been fascinated by everything aviation and your videos have given me an amazing insight into how airline aviation works. I enjoy everything from your scheduling, flight planning, departure and arrival plates to visiting those foreign cities. Please keep taking the time and effort to share your stories with us. Pete

Yes Darren it is nice to relax and enjoy life as it goes by in a flash. I tip my hat off to you as your very forthcoming in speaking about your salary and your life in general😉 My wife and I took a cruise years ago out of Galveston [ Princess ] love cruising!! How many pairs of glasses do you own? and by the looks of it you got a wall at home full😁 Always a pleasure.

Question/video topic for you Darren. Have you ever struggled with the irregular sleep schedules? For instance, I was a passenger on a flight arriving past 1am (didn't into bed until well past 2am) and it took my 30 year old body such a long time to recover! The late bedtime also affected my mental acuity for several days. Made me wonder how I could manage a schedule like that as an airline pilot. I am a student pilot with 12 hours in my logbook. At first I was having trouble with motion sickness but my body seems to have adapted. Is it something similar with adapting to irregular sleep schedules?
@geekontheflightdeck
@geekontheflightdeck Ай бұрын
For me it’s hydration, diet, exercise and mind. I have trained/learned how to sleep at random times. It’s a person to person thing but I once had major issues but can now readjust quickly even going from London to home to Tokyo in 6 days (which I’ll cover in my next video)

Hi Darren, this question is off topic, but I would love your input. Can you talk about the challenges that you have as a 777 pilot have in maintaining your stick and rudder skills? Given that you fly just a few trips a month with only a few takeoffs and landings, how do you balance automation, and limited hand flying with maintaining your basic stick and rudder skills?
@geekontheflightdeck
@geekontheflightdeck Ай бұрын
I have been flying for 17 years. The basic skills don’t go away at this point. I’m not Chuck Yeager or anything but a plane is a plane for me. The automation can be a headache if I’ve been off for a while remembering the pace of things and so forth.

What do you think about one pilots in the cockpit is it safe are they going to do it.😊
@geekontheflightdeck
@geekontheflightdeck Ай бұрын
I don’t see it happening for large passenger jets in my career. I have 18 years left. Safety can’t be commented on until the systems are announced.

I’m sure you’ve been asked before, but why do you use IATA codes instead of ICAO codes?
@geekontheflightdeck

That’s what my airline uses for our schedules so it is first to mind. I have very few ICAO covers memorized.
