Great video captain ! My son went to a flight college and got all of his ratings. He was building time as a CFI and was just over 1300 hours when Cancer struck at 25. His outlook is great but now we have to figure out the next steps for his medical. Like you said it is a journey but positive attitudes and determination will go along way. 🙏

I am so sorry to hear that, but happy that he is fighting through and almost on the other side of it all. I know it takes a while but hope there is comfort in knowing that I personally know pilots that have went through a similar battle. They were able to get their medicals back and still are airline pilots. Positive thoughts and vibes are being sent your way from me. 🫶🏽🙏🏽

Ma’am, I just have to say, I’m currently 19, scheduling a private pilot checkride and hope to become a CFI by Sep ‘26. Accumulate my hours teaching and hope to make it to airlines and hopefully, God willing, become active in an Aviation Missionary organization known to spread the gospel as well. Just in case no one as admitted yet, the transparency and authenticity of this video are virtues MANY modern “pow-wow/personal story,” videos lack and I am glad to be a new subscriber to your channel! Hopefully one day we meet in the skies!! ✈️

don't trust your mechanics , double check every sensors and critical parts they replaced on your plane , check they used the good spare parts recommended by the plane manufacturer . Try to train yourself at flying the plane in the case of sensors failure , in the case they send you wrong data . Keep flying the plane , don't get too distracted when trying to solve a problem with a faulty device on the flight deck, keep records of every single action you took before taking of . Don't rush the checklist , don't try a landing procedure you are not familiar with , communicate with the ATC , don't argue in the cockpit. keep training yourself to recover from STALL , watch videos , books , discuss with senior pilots .

When I was financially kicked out of my instrument flight training and university in 2021, I wasn’t sure if I would ever touch an aircraft ever again. For a while, I thought that maybe I just wasn’t cut out for it, or maybe my family just wasn’t fortunate enough to help me achieve my dreams. But, through a little bit of luck and reconnecting with some old mentors, I was re-introduced to Civil Air Patrol where I was able to talk to some other pilots and regain my currency (for free!) after an entire year and a half away from flying. Today, I am able to continue my training at a different university, using new scholarships and taking out some loans. I think it’s important to remember that things often don’t go as planned, but to let your passion drive you through the tough days ahead. I think this video is a great example of the right mindset you need to succeed in aviation, and I thank you for posting.

Anya!! Wonderful story. I started at 14. My "opportunity" was? My Mom and Stepfather owned an FBO at KHHR. (Hawthorne Airport, near LAX, for non-pilots). Short story, I'm now retired (CO/UA). Typed in the DC9, B737, B757/767. Never wanted to bid the B777 at the time with CO, the schedules and senority implications. My happiest memories were right-seat on the DC10. Great to fly, high seniority, cozy job.

The difference is I had a full time job, but I recall how downtrodden my CFIs were in that era. It was rough, and I chose to wait until now to switch careers so I wouldn't have all that debt. We flew mostly Cessna 206s and King Air 350s and other turboprops aircraft and some small jets. I lost a few friends along the way; but It was an awesome career and great time flying. my story was my parents were NOT supporting me what so ever one is a 7K chain smoker and the other was a 16K compulsive gambler with an income of a 38K a year...working at ups part time and earned extra income by purchasing item at a local auction and thrift stores then flipping them on eBay and /or Amazon...was a lot of fun ...UPS does offer college funding but flight training is exempt it is also for part timers only... Generally when working for UPS we are told that the job is not designed for full time status and when you do sign up you lose more and not worth it. i.e. part time wages are frozen for 5 years, your pension goes to the Teamsters 401K with negative dividends and yields, you lose the ability to take transfers, you lose the college funding. Told to go find some freelance work in order to compensate to your 40 hours.

This was awesome, Captain 👌🏽. Im just starting over in career change at 40 and in college for avaition technology. Hoping to work my way up to a Captain seat. This was great information 👏🏽 . Do you think a college degree in aviation helps the chances to becoming Captain faster or is it more collecting hours and experience?
@AnyaTheAviatorКүн бұрын
Congratulations to you!!! I know that was an easy decision but hopefully you are loving the journey. Having a college degree doesn’t specifically help chances of becoming a Captain. But, it does give you a step over other pilots that don’t have one… to get an interview. Which means you may get hired before them. And Captain positions are seniority based at the airlines… so if you’re hired sooner for having a degree, it kind of helps that way. 😁

Welcome to KZbin. Question for you... If you had the knowledge that you have no when you graduated high school, would you have considered enrolling in the Air Force Academy and let Uncle Sam train you for free? You could have learned either to fly fighters, air-refueling tankers or military logistics... 61 years ago I tried that route but was diagnosed with severe colorblindness. Adios aviation career.

Hey there! I totally get it. It is hard. Figure out a way to decrease expenses/ increase funds. And focus on getting in $5000… then start. Then focus on the next $5000 and so on. Dedicating the time to it is equally important. Project Aviator currently has a Scholarship application open. Also OBAP’s will open very soon. Look into AOPA as well, but I’m less familiar. Just do a deep dive… even ask ChatGPT ☺️

Thanks for clarifying. I'll make note of it as the correct application of that acronym.
