I don't think this lens are for beginners. I am a photographer for more than 3 decades now. At 60 years old, II discovered that I enjoyed this lens so much more than the kit lens on my Canon M50.

Yeah its a little harder to learn nailing perfect focus all the time, but in a generation where everything is automatic and effortless, its great to go back to fundamentals like manual focus and composition and "zooming with your feet"

i just got into photography, got a canon t3i with kit lens that only works on manual focus. Hitting that sharp image is sometimes hard with manual focus since you cant really tell that much in viewfinder or even live preview mode

Yeah its tricky at the start. Takes a lot of practice and getting a feel for it. Stepping the aperture down to f2.2 or 2.8 can greater chances of being in focus. Also using an external monitor with focus peaking features can also aid you.

7 artisans are a legit awesome lens maker for budget users. You could load up on 4 or 5 of their lenses at the cost of one Top tier Fuji lens 😂 Gonna try their 50mm cinema lens soon

I had to send mine back to Amazon because my Sony NEX-5 would not recognize it. Since I am a beginner I don't know if it is because it was not intended for my camera or the lens I got was defective.
@RJBaculo
@RJBaculo 3 ай бұрын
It should work with the NEX-5, especially since its just a manual lens (no electronics). You might have to enable "Release w/o Lens" in your camera settings. Otherwise, it is quite possible your unit was defective.

Is there any difference with and without the lens cap for this lens?
@RJBaculo

Do you mean the metal lens hood? It might reduce flaring a little when light comes in a certain angle but for me its mostly protection for the front glass and also adds that vintage lens aesthetic.

Any ND filter recommendation for this lens?
@RJBaculo
@RJBaculo Жыл бұрын
I use a pretty affordable Nisi variable ND filter on this with a 46mm to 52mm step-up ring. Another great VND filter brand I use is K&F Concept. Hope that helps!

Have you tried meike 25mm f1.8? I'm actually undecided between the two. Thanks!
@RJBaculo
@RJBaculo 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the Meike one yet but from what I hear the Meike 25mm has a better build and more accurate distance scale, but its noticeably less sharp.

would this lens be good for astrophotography?
@RJBaculo
@RJBaculo 3 жыл бұрын
Generally, this lens is good for portraits because of the sharp center and not-so-sharp edges. I imagine a night sky photo would require sharpness all around. Although, the 25mm is a medium-wide focal length that might make it great for astrophotography. And you definitely don't need auto-focus either. ;)

Most definitely it is! Most filmmakers will use manual focus anyways and also this lens has a vintage look to it that makes it a little more flimic.
