This is a great time for IEMs indeed - and I l also love that there is no snobbism in this review because diminishing any cheap product is so easy to do.

For those having the fit issues like stated in the video, try tip rolling. I had a similar glare from a shallow insertion problem until I found a good fit with a rarely used dual flange tips. Was initially frustrated and about to sell but is now quite content with the IEM.

Nice to see the evolution of the Salnotes Zero. I agree about the tips, the original Zero is one of the most annoying IEMs I've used when it comes to the tips. They're wide, and push out of your ear, and if you insert them deeper, the silicone tip collapses on itself and breaks the seal. Even measuring on the metal coupler was a huge pain for me since it would push itself out within seconds. For my Zero I ended up using different tips. I am still excited to try the Zero 2 since my main complaint about the original Zero was the treble.

If these fit anything like the original zeros then they will fit perfectly for me. I personally have small ear canals. The Zero REDs were too big for me and would constantly be on the verge of falling out since I couldn’t insert them deep enough. The BLON Jojo’s, which are tiny and designed to be inserted deeper in the ear just hit the wall of my small ear canal and partially block the sound.

I had that issue with the original Zeros, but was never able to figure out what was going on exactly. In forums people would just say it's because they're bright IEMs, and it takes getting used to, but the insertion depth thing makes sense. I ended up getting TRN Clarion tips per a random recommendation in discussions of Zero, and am fairly content with the result. These tips have a convex-concave shape that let the IEMs seal better even if they aren't fully pushed in. I'm glad I'm not the only one who think the fit is the main problem, it sounded completely different once I use foam tips in my OG Salnote Zero, the bass actually better and treble is tolerable once the bass is more nounce. I don't understand the frustration some people seem to feel about all these collabs. It's a good thing. If you share many of the tastes in sound as your favorite audio reviewer, why wouldn't you want something tuned by them? I am no audiophile, but the fact there are more options at every price range compared to 3 years ago and with decent sound quality is fantastic. If you are not familiar with a certain company or you are unsure about an iem's tuning then having a reviewer you know be a part of it is reassuring. That's why I bought a Blessing 2 Dusk which I use and is still my favorite to this day. Bottomline, if you don't like these collabs that okay, it's your opinion, but they are not for you. They benefit other people and allow for more access to better sound. Not all of us live in an area where we can test out iems or headphones. On a final note, in a video announcing the Zero 2 Crin did explain the tuning was targeting a more consumer-like (for-the-masses) customer as they are the ones most likely to buy budget iems.

Not having an anime-style character on the box being considered a plus (even if it's clearly not taken that serious) is wild, ngl. I thought everyone enjoyed them by now, just by the fact that it's a work of art on the box rather than just "Image of the product at good-looking angle". SO much more appealing to have something unique on the box to represent the IEMs, or a series of IEMs. I know it's absolutely no big deal. I am the opposite, i prefer shallow nozzle iems - having both a long nozzle and rubber tip jammed in my ear canal causes way too much stress/strain and irritation and always causes it to pop out. So i use short nozzle iems with double flange tips that i make by myself by cutting short cheap triple flange tips. The iems sit on the outside of my ear canal and only the double flange enters my ear canal. Much more tolerable for my ear canals that twist decidedly upwars close to the entrance into the ear canals.
@emsayonachi9300Ай бұрын
we got exactly same ear canals and experience. what iem you use? are you using this zero2 with your modified eartip?
@rokhamler3352Ай бұрын
@emsayonachi9300 i use the zero 1, i ended up using moondrop's tips and now the tip and nozzle itself sits on the entrance to my ear canal, seal is good enough for at home stuff. But daily i use Truthear Nova which has a massive nozzle but i use large rubber triple flange tips for it, from which i removed the middle flange and inserted a fine foam as a filter which keeps out all ear wax (i can just wash and dry the foam when it need to be cleaned) that i checked throughly doesn't fall out (cuz i don't want it to end up in my ear). The nozzle of the IEM doesn't go deep and basically is sitting at the entrance to my ear canal but the rubber tip does go deep and the first, smallest flange makes a seal and anchor inside the ear canal. Reason i removed the middle flange but kept the largest third flange is if the tip ever were to detach from the iem nozzle it will almost certainly not be able to enter deeper into my ear canal cuz of how big the third flange is. Also the seal without the middle flange isn't that much affected and is more comfortable not to have so much rubber pressing on the inside of my ear canal. Cleaning your ears out regularly while showering is important with this kind of deep tip with flanges.
@rokhamler3352Ай бұрын
I should add you should be VERY careful if you do something similar to what i did, there is a high chance a modified tip can end up separated from the nozzle and stuck inside your ear, which means a visit to the emergency room to get it out. So don't even attempt it if accessing medical care is expensive or physically hard to do for you. Stuff stuck inside your ears is an instant minor or big emergency depending on what is stuck. The moondrop tips do a good enough job and they have an inner ring which locks itself in the groove of the Zero's nozzle. The flange tip don't have such a ring and don't lock on the Zero and they tend to wiggle off the short but wide Zero nozzle and I do not wanna visit an emergency ear doc.
@emsayonachi9300Ай бұрын
@@rokhamler3352 thank you so much for detailed infos. I got lots of ideas from your experiences. I totally understand how thick nozzle diameter + rubber tip sitting inside the ear canal would put too much pressure and discomfort. Shallow or sort nozzle and regardless of it's thickness is much more sensible coz only rubber tip will slide in the canal. less pressure but good seal. I checked moondrop's tips and they're like quite expensive. If I were to get zero, that tip would increase the cost by almost half of zero's. The reason I'm eyeing zero is it's b-pin. I'm kinda staying away from C-pin units as I already broke two in the past. (zsn pro & zsn pro X) and both models kinda give me problems with the tips hole pressing against the canal blocking the sound 🤭

In the end i opt for whizzer SS20 but even with that it felt weird wearing a longer period of time not to mention the upper treble spike and is quite unnatural. So yeah. wouldn't be bother with the same shell part.2 aswell for me. Great heads up though

01:12 - Frequency Response IS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS I look for on the product specs (along with Driver size, Sensitivity etc etc), It's a SHAME it's NOT a STANDARD to put these kind of specs on the packaging for IEMs, On Ears, Over Ears etc... 😒 😎🇬🇧

I currently am using the blon bl03 (first and only iems), would you say it is worth picking up the zero 2s even if only for the aesthetics?

Did you get them

The Timeless couldn't fit my ears no matter what and that was an absolute deal breaker. I think the safest fit in the inexpensive market today is the EPZ Q5

I have no problem with my zero. I like how it was tuned. And its fit, nothing.... i have nothing to complain about, it fits me perfectly. it flushed with my ear and i can use it to sleep without any discomfort or putting pressure on my ear. compared to hexa wan'er and aful p5, i prefer 7hz zero fitting.

I'm so glad to hear the lower treble issue isn't just me. It ruined the original zero for me and made me think my ears created a resonance there since it doesn't show up on measurements. I'm disappointed to hear it's still present on the Zero 2, because I wanted to buy one after seeing that bass boost and improved treble around 13k

I thought I was crazy for being the only one that heard a shouty 4khz region in the OG Zero, I guess it's the same on the Zero 2... dang.
@Gabrielnfs Жыл бұрын
Got the Zero 2, I think it has a bit of extra energy at 4khz and around 12khz but it's not really a lot (like 1 or 2 db) and does not screw with tonality, also it has really nice bass to become what is in my opinion the best tuned IEM out of all the cheapie sub 30 dollar IEMs, the only thing up to 100 dollars I heard that has better tuning is the truthear zero red with the impedance adapter Would recommend easily, though it being a 20-25 dollar IEM means the eartips and cable are really meh, you need aftermarket tips/cables to get a really nice set or you could just go to the truthear zero red for 50 dollars and get a complete set with pretty nice eartips and cable

I was looking for a fun IEM with a little Bass boost. Recently moved away from my samsung buds after they broke and went with a Fiio true wireless adapter with my now 4 year old tin t2s really nice combo but a little flat IMO. I think these will compliment them nicely and even if they dont fit perfectly 20€ + 10 for the mmcx to 2 pin adapter are not too bad if they are not my favorite. Hoping for a good fit in my big ears with tiny earholes.

Duude. A reviewer with the same problem as me? My issue with most of the iems today is shallow insert depth, falling out and so on. I have 'solved' the problem by using bullet shaped iems, etymotic, ling longs, final, quarks.

The 7hz Zero 1 actually has a higher harman preference score than the truthear zero. 84 vs 80. So technically the 7hz is closer to harman, although it is negligible
@TheHEADPHONEShow Жыл бұрын
Not if you go by the way Harman derived it. This is a long story but essentially you have to use the canal extension tube, which is what Harman did, in which case zero blue does score better.

What’s funny is you can buy an iem that cost hundreds more with the same tuning but maybe it offers more with overall quality and fit

Ah crap, I've just bought them. I hope that the fit, coupled with my smaller ear and ear canal, doesn't ruin them for me as well.

Thanks Resolve! You commented quite extensively about the fit but what about the fitment?

I have similar issue with Truthear Hexa. I'm not sure it's fit related, but 2200-3800 are very boosted for me, even when comparing to something more forward in this region (Truthear Zero, for example).
@KurtKloetentreter Жыл бұрын
I filed the nozzle of my hexa down because my ear canals are quite small and it improved the sound so much for me. My truthear zeros had half of their nozzles filed off because they were gigantic. I think crin has massive earholes and doesn't realize it 🤷🏼♂️

I was a big fan of the neutral sound of the original Zero. Do you think I will like these? Should I pass on these?

Sound quality-wise there is no reason for me to be using an IEM like this, except for one reason... I kill every earphone/IEM when I do cardio. I guess it's the sweat. I'm at the point where I need to go cheap and the $20-$25 options are pretty great now.

Salnotes is basically a sub-brand of 7Hz.
@taidee Жыл бұрын
The fit on IEMs can be an issue for some. For example, the original Salnotes Zero is one of the most easiest, basically wear and forget it IEM for me. And then there are IEMs that people are happy with, and they give me a problem when I wear them.
