For me Michael, technique is like words to a writer, skills are like sentences, speed is paragraphs, experience is a novel. For an author to be successful, they have to know and understand as many words as possible AND their meaning. They have to know HOW they are arranged to make sense and then they have to provide the ‘Story’ - the Beginning, Middle and Ending that takes the reader on a journey of the story of a match. Each ‘character’ interacts with another to ‘tell’ their story and how it depends, interdepends, but also is independent from each other.

Hi Mike, I can't express how thankful I am with these videos. I have been out of the pitch for almost 2 months due to a couple of surgeries I had to take, and I just came back to practice on my own, after watching your videos during these months. I started with individual sessions, and hopefully next week I'm back again with my team. Many, many thanks for these videos, keep them going!! Lots of love from Spain!
@kevinsayce2248 Жыл бұрын
Michael, all your videos are creating not only a legacy for others to follow, but also a visual personal diary of how far you’ve progressed with your technique etc. When I coached, I had to write all these things down as there wasn’t any internet or mobile phone cameras etc, so we did it the ‘old way’😂 We had to be ‘creative’....for instance, there was a time when I wanted to get players to be more on the front foot when playing, so I ‘improvised’ and placed old bootlaces curled up in a ball into the heels of both boots of each player in turn so the more they leaned back onto their heels they ‘felt’ it and so encouraging them to play more forward onto their front foot. It took only a few sessions to get them playing more on the front foot. 👍
@Randy_Batswinger Жыл бұрын
That's really interesting. New to football so didn't realise front foot/back foot was a thing. Any books you can recommend on skills? I'm from the pre-internet generation too. Interested in studying the game now. Thanks. 🙂
@kevinsayce2248 Жыл бұрын
@@Randy_Batswinger Charlie, books were pre internet days. I’ve still got every note/programme/match reports etc I produced over the years. But honestly, the only way to really improve is to watch more experienced coaches while they coach and at first copy the bits you like and then adapt them slightly and viola, you have your very own drills/SSGs etc.

@@1andonlyfaxz787 hey man fair enough if you dont play alot then you could try to join another team, that would be ideal if you could, also try to watch football, it doesnt have to be live if you dont pay for it just find a free pirated website of some older games and just watch a few every week, try and pick out what the players do to make the tackles and pass players, buy some cones for dribbling and get comfortable with the ball again just play as much as possible and youl improve, hope this helps!

Zara Having done my UEFA B some 18 years ago, then A Licence, it’s quite important to remember that ALL the sessions you will learn are ‘DUO’ focused - that means the Key Points in each will most likely be the opposite of each other. I.e. “IMPROVE FINISHING FROM WIDE PLAY” has the same Key points as “DEFENDING FROM WIDE AREAS” but in reverse.

Michael, honest Question, how is your touch so perfect? And your dribbling? Did you also had to train ball mastery for months to master your touches?
@7mlc Жыл бұрын
It’s definitely not perfect my man, but rather consistent. Simply by getting repetitions in, whether than be with a partner, a wall if training alone, spending hours recovering the ball at different speeds and bounces. The same goes for dribbling, just spending a lot of time with the ball at your feet will help you tremendously. If you can find opportunities to play small sided with friends/teammates often, this will also help both of those areas of your game 👌
