7mm RM is a beast. Had a model 700 BDL bought new in '86 or'87 can't remember. I learned to hand load that cal. and put around 1,000 rounds through her (yeah I named her Maggie ) and finally got so the accuracy started to suffer at longer ranges so I sold her. I still miss that rifle but hot loading rounds tends to wear a barrel out. I loaded different grn for different purposes and hunted everything from ground hogs to black bear with that rifle. 7mm RM is a go to caliber and I believe it's probably the best all purpose caliber ever made. Love it.

I stocked up and shot all of them along with Remington Core Lokt 150 gr., and Hornady Leverevolution 160 gr out of my Henry. Winchester Deer Season was the most accurate. They also had Federal Fusion at 9.00 per box. I should have bought that too.

That 150 grain 7mm has a substantially higher sectional density compared to the 150 grain. 308” caliber bullet. Probably why the 7mm beat it out on penetration. If that was a 180 grain .308” caliber bullet, which is comparable in sectional density to the 150 grain 7mm, it would have told a different tale. Cool video nonetheless with typical off the shelf ammo.

And the trigger adjusted to 3.5 lbs. I started to use it out of a tree stand at some crazy angle positions. Man did that take the bite out of that rifle. I swear to God it hits like my 30.30 now. WHAT A DIFFERENCE.... I'll never part with that rifle. It still hits the same hole at 100 yards consistently... Off of a rest of course... if I miss anything... it's me for sure... Not really,the 180 gr. .30 cal.bullet sectional density is .270 and the 7mm 175 gr. is .310 SD.The 150 gr.7mm is closer @.266SD,although the 150gr 7mm striking velocity will be higher.
@datasailor81324 жыл бұрын
rj4590 you can argue both ways. Since momentum is proportional to velocity and energy is proportional to the square of the velocity, a lighter bullet at a given energy at the target will give up its energy more rapidly and do more damage to a more complex target that water jugs. Looks like the 300 Winmag will overpenetrate.

Ron Spomer is a big fan off 7mm Rem Mag. Check out his KZbin channel where he anchored an elk with a 7mm, got em 3 times before he finally dropped!

I have not read all the comments but one important factor not mentioned is a thing called a muzzle brake. When you muzzle brake both calibers I doubt you could tell the difference in recoil. I was target practicing with a 22-250 no brake vs 300 Win Mag with a brake and I could tell very little difference. So why would one not bring a more powerful caliber to go hunting with. As you made a comment in the video, there was a much more violent splash in the milk jugs with the 300 Win Mag which equals an explosion of vital organs and a more ethical kill when hunting. Not saying a 7mm can't kill but more power is more power.

Great video . Can I ask you a question ? Have you shot or have any experience with the 6.8 spc upper for the ar15 . Or with that caliber at all .

What barrel length is your 350 legend ? I know the ballistic charts are from a 20” barrel . If yours is shorter how does it affect it if at all.

I'm a mag fan but not a big belted ammo fan because of cost and reload issues. I'd just as soon go with the non belted ultra mags in the 300 and 7mm

I myself have a 300 win mag and use 150 grain traveling at just over 3400 ft per second from muzzle. Took a dear at 500yds thru the heart liquified the heart and it did pass thru the dear. Now thats destruction.

@@chrisruiz3269 Man up mate, as long as it takes. I've got bad knees and back but I love my hunting so I just do it. Everyone complains about everything nowdays, too much recoil, too heavy, it's a long action. Honestly I think people have it so easy they run out of real complaints about firearms.
