LRX and TTSX are great bullets...all Barnes Bullets are fantastic. I have tested their TSX bullets out of my 416 ruger it performed like a solid. Penetrated 14 2x10's. I hope you keep doing videos with these bullets. Love the 7mm too.

@AlaskanBallistics
@AlaskanBallistics 3 жыл бұрын

@NYPrepper
@NYPrepper 3 жыл бұрын
@@AlaskanBallistics make several loads going in 0.2 grain increments up to safe max or around the load with your desired velocity and fire one shot with load and see which loads group around the same location this will give you the accuracy window/node. For example if your loads with 60.2 60.4 and 60.6 grain of charge all have very similar POI that's the "accuracy window" . There are other methods. Of course you can also fire groups going in 0.2 grain increments to see which group the best, but the ladder test will save a lot of time and components to get you into the charge weights that will work the best with your barrel harmonics. Then you can experiment with loads in that range to see which one group the best.
@NYPrepper
@NYPrepper 3 жыл бұрын
There are some pitfalls with ladder testing though. Old school method of shooting groups at different charge weights is the best way to determine what is the most accurate charge.

I've shot a 140 ballistic tip through a factory Ruger for 40 years out to 800 yards imr 4831. Have shot elk to Prairie dogs with 1/2" moan out to 600 yds. These lighter bullets in a factory twist are exceptional performers with incredible terminal damage for quick results

Always glad to see the bullet performance videos . I shoot with a few guys who have 7 mags. Most of em shoot 4831 short cut. Trim their brass, and play with the neck tension . I know powder is hard to find right now, and I have not found a 300 win mag that did not like RL 22. Down here in the south , on the days we shoot with the temps in the mid 90s, rl 22 almost always goes over pressure. It will probably do great in Alaska if you develop and shoot at approximately the same temperature. But down here, if you develop a load in fall or early spring near max load, that baby is gonna lock the bolt up in July and August ... I love the accuracy of RL 22 though in win mags.... try the 4831sc or even IMR 4350 . I have a buddy that shoots 140 LRAB in 7 mag with the imr 4350. Just a suggestion . Thanks for the vids.👍

11 fps SD from 3100 plus fps average is probably better than most of the factory stuff but the 2 inch group is not terrible for most hunting ranges. That still within the vitals of an elk or moose out to 400

Hey Chuck. I just bought 4 boxes of Barnes 139gr LRX for my Tikka 7mm Rem Mag. How do you think they'll perform on Alabama whitetails from 75 yards out to 200 yards? I'm getting almost one hole groups at 100yds.

Ever since I discovered the 28 Nosler a few years back, my 7mag has pretty much been on the inactive list. I always got great accuracy with it though, using 140 grain Nosler BTs and Reloader 19. But this 28 Nosler with 168 grain Nosler AccuBond LR bullets and burning Retumbo powder, is strictly lights out when it comes to taking anything in North America on four legs. It shoots flatter than an opened can of beer that sat overnight on the camp table, and hits harder than a Joe Frasier left hook.

LRX performance at 60 yds WOW!! would like to see how it works at say 200 -300 yards. At longer range will the petals remain? If the petals shear off as they did at 60 yds will the bullet still mushroom as it did at 60 yards? Love those pork explosion videos!!!

@@AlaskanBallistics I enjoy your channel, and as big as it is it needs those 2. Labradar for when you’re shooting at those temperature above 20F and the magneto when it’s not. These cheap chronographs can be very sensitive and they WILL give you false info and you might be blaming your powder charge when in fact it can just be your equipment. Are you not crimping?even a light taper crimp might help speed a little. Powder charge for r 22 is low. Number 12 Speer with 145 grain Speer says 69 grains is max. Number 8 Nosler, 67.5 with 140. Their bullets, not all copper. Could be overall longer length with the Barnes bullet. Will the chamber let you load a little long? Or does magazine dictate overall cartridge length? Oh yeah, Nosler book gives 3340 f.p.s at 94 percent capacity. Performed great at where you are. Can hardly wait for fall hunt video
