Awesome footage! How is it there in Georgia? Ohio is going to be on a mandatory stay-home order except for things that are ''essential'' starting tomorrow I believe. I will not be able to film any more real trains probably until this virus dies down. Luckily, I got some Norfolk Southern train footage yesterday, a good amount. One of the things I found was one of the Norfolk Southern ''heritage units'' for the first time! What I will be uploading while this virus is happening I will record from my HO Scale home layout or videos that I have recorded from when I had my original channel. Stay safe!

Quick question if you may: is this a daily industry job and where are these gentlemen based out of if you know? I have to plan trips to the Abbeville subdivision because I live no closer than 45 minutes to the nearest track on the division. If I knew a schedule it would help a lot in finding time to go. I also wish I could find a schedule for when Norfolk southern runs through Maysville Georgia as those track improvements and relatively newer industry are very impressive.Norfolk southern runs the route although it may be leased to the Hartwell Railroad LLC at least officially. I just don't know any real fans in the area so I don't know anyone that would have this information anymore. Everyone I knew is gone. Some died, so I moved but it's been 20 or 25 years now since I last talked to almost any railfan around here. I hear you have a receiver of some sort. I think they still use 161.100 road and I believe 160.920 dispatch, although maybe it changed a long time ago. I have it programmed correctly in my radios though. Gainesville Midland SD uses 160.590 road and 161.520 dispatch. Norfolk Southern through this subdivision in Gainesville did switch to 160.905 which greatly helped reduce communication interference and overload between different desks compared to when everyone was on 160.950 in much of the region. We also have maintenance of way crews replacing ties and they are on the MoW frequency of 160.650 (on Norfolk Southern trackage). I suppose Georgia Northeastern still uses 160.560, and CSX in Marietta Georgia did use 161.370 road and 160.230 dispatch, although I think they switch to 161.100 when they leave out of Lockair and Elizabeth southward and enter Atlanta Terminal subdivision. I have been unfortunate enough to not have seen any trains in quite a long time, but I do very actively still listen. I live open Gainesville not too far from the terminal end of the Gainesville Midland Subdivision. I visit the Abbeville Sub occasionally and I also love to visit Greenwood South Carolina, where I sometimes spent when I was very young. If you have any suggestions of where to rail spot in the region please let me know. I know I'm missing out every day.
@mbmars014 жыл бұрын
The crews is from the Athens are I'd think, because that's the Athens local A752 that does this job. Regarding the radio frequencies, there's an excellent website with all information: radioreference [dot] com. Currently traffic is very sparse everywhere and there are frequent changes to schedules.

Great video. Just had a thought. Here in Carrollton the local power used by ns is sd40-2 but these units here are 6 axle and I noticed the power in this video are 4 axle. Just wondering why one would use 6 versus 4 axle power
@A-Dam844 жыл бұрын
Well it could be many reason's why. The SD40-2 "SD= Super Duty" has more horsepower then the GP40-2 GP38-2 "GP= General Purpose" Also the GP's can take a sharper turn radius then the SD's where the GP's only have 4 Axle's compared to 6.

What does 1 1/2 inch compression shoes mean and when you have multiple engines why does only one do the pulling. Also how are the engines coupled to all pull in unison? Where is Colbert Ga? I am in middle Ga.
@RailPreserver2K4 жыл бұрын
Calbert is a town located in North Georgia along the CSX Abbeville subdivision which runs from Atlanta to Charleston if I'm not mistaken, the 1 and 1/2 compression choose I think of referring to the compression springs but I could be wrong on that
@mikehowey48694 жыл бұрын
Refers to the thickness of brake shoes i believe.
@chriswoodruff22934 жыл бұрын
The engines have cables that connect to one another so the engineer can control multiple engines. If the engine has the software installed it can even control engines (called distributed power units) in the middle or other end of the cars (called a consist).
