I've been thinking of trying the Theme Based Writing with IEW for my 7th grader. We've tried EIW level 6 and I'm not impressed .. Last year we used IEW Structure and Style and my kids did great, but they didn't enjoy the lengths of the videos.

Thanks for sharing about EIW. I was totally considering it but glad we didn’t. I think iew is excellent. Thanks so much for being here and sharing your thoughts!

That’s encouraging to hear because we haven’t started it yet and was thinking maybe we have too many resources now. Excited to try it. Thanks for stopping by 😊

Thank you Thank you, you seem like a normal mom and not falling into the "homeschool comparison" game. I enjoyed your genuineness. I like CLE. Thank you for the word roots recommendation. We're going to try CLE this year too. I appreciate that you include your daughter in your videos. Being a mom is great and you look you really love it! I am wanting to try the Memoria Press literature guides. Keep making more videos. I enjoy them!

Awe. That is so so encouraging. Thank you so much! Unfortunately I have fallen into the homeschool comparison many a times but have learned not to. We love CLE. Unfortunately we haven’t liked the MP lit guides but we didn’t give it much of a chance. Thanks for enjoying my kids in the videos. It’s hard for me to hide from them and our youngest especially insists being in the videos. Haha.

Yes, absolutely about Memorial Press Literature Guides. I made a video reviewing several guides from different companies that we used in our homeschool for my sons 3rd grade year and I was SUPER disappointed with Memoria Press. It was so repetitive and boring. And yes to IEW SS being lecture intensive. We were definitely not used to that and there was a learning curve with how to fit it in for our son to make it work not just for him but for the family flow as well. Good catch on EIW, momma! No excuse having fundamental mistakes in a curriculum.

Ooh. I need to check out your video about guides! So far, we haven’t like much from MP. We even tried their Latin and that was boring too. Haha. I need to rewatch your videos to see what writing y’all are using. I’m still on the fence about iew ss but may try it since we’re familiar with it from participating in classical conversations.

This is the first video I have watched of yours and I enjoyed it so much! I was so excited to see you are using Saxson 8/7, we to have done Singapore math thru 6th grade and I was so torn on what to do my sons 7th grade year. Thru much prayer and help from friends we decided to do saxson 8/7 with dive math, it is very encouraging to see another momma whose children did Singapore math choose Saxson 8/7 as their next step as well ! We also through prayer decided to do apologia general science, I met the author at a homeschool conference and she was so very kind, I let her know the notebook was a bit overwhelming and she assured me it was mostly note pages to help the children learn to take notes as they read, to help them pull out the key concepts, I thought that sounded great !! A wonderful skill to sharpen ! I Hope you have a blessed homeschool year and thank you for sharing !!

Thank you so much! At a nice way to start the morning. I am so encouraged. And I am also glad to and thankful know that there are other moms switching to Saxon from Singapore by the 7th grade. And good advice on the apologia notebooking! I actually don’t even know about the dive videos. Where do you find those?

I love listening to you talking about homeschool being your passion. My soon-to-be 7th grader is very honest about her opinions as well :). I'm excited to see what you think about Word Roots. We almost used it.

Thanks, Jen, for watching!! I never expected homeschooling to be anything a part of my life. It was certainly not in my goals of my youth. Lol. Honest kids means they are comfortable with us ;) I’ll share about Word Roots :) thanks for the suggestion.

😂😂😂 I think being honest about homeschool curriculum at 6th grade is universal! Even my “easy going” child has some strong opinions lately!

@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool lol. I guess it comes with the age. We’ll have to see, because our almost 10 year old son never has a strong opinion to share. It can be like pulling teeth sometimes with him, and I like pulling teeth. Hehe.

@@TheChan7 you’ll have to let us know! I am just so surprised by how opinionated my 11/12 year old turned. My 11 year old has always let me know his feelings… a lot… so things probably will stay the same there :)

God does have it in control as my oldest was difficult till his teen years when he found his passion and I have a easy 15 year old!!! I‘m finding my nearly 13 year old harder but I know I can trust her with her fashion choices as long as I remind her on modesty!!! My 7th grader has been doing independent science form the age of 10 when she was old enough for the homeschool pre med course she wanted to do!!! She’s still doing it and loving it!!! She loves the compas classroom vocabulary course!!! My oldest struggled with iew!!! My 7th grade daughter does medical history and tells me she loves it and her teacher in her pre medical course is fun!!!

Thanks so much for sharing! I'd love to hear about your pre med journey for your daughter. Our oldest claims she wants to be a pediatrician. Trying to trust that God has it all under control. I'm afraid we're going to spend $100s to find that IEW isn't a good fit for our family. Awesome that you have some independent learners there! Thank you so much always!
