I did my privacy fence just like this (thanks to you). 3 years later, still strong as ever! I’ve received compliments on it too.

I use Zip ties from putting up Christmas lights to photography. What a great way of recycling a chain link fence into something cost saving and more useful to your customer. By the way your subfloor repair video saved me a bundle and kept my mother in her home where she wants to be.

Thank you for sharing this Derek. This was actually my personal home I don’t or wouldn’t feel right about charging a customer for this lol it was just a creative thing that I can do in my own house but not someone else is LOL. You rock for the subfloor repair. I appreciate you

I'm really glad you made this update video 7 years later. I have an old 3' tall fence separating my yard from my neighbors with next to no privacy. This looks like a perfect, cheap, and reliable solution for my situation and I'm happy I stumbled onto your videos. I'm still a bit skeptical of the zip ties, and will probably spring for some 2 hole pipe straps to help stabilize the posts to the existing metal posts. Thank you!
@homemend6 ай бұрын
Hey hey that is awesome. So glad it helped you. I intended those tie straps to be temporary until the fence was built, but they lasted the whole way. If I redid it, I would probably use band straps. Thanks for the comment.

You saved my life! I built a make-shift fence out of reclaimed pallets and I was never thinking it was going to be perfect since every board was a different size. I was tempted to just use zip-ties and once you showed a picture of them after seven years I was off to the races! Yay for you!!

Amazing job! I love your problem-solving creativity. I put in a wood fence 7 years ago and the posts are already leaning and the fence looks bad. I wish I had put in a chain link instead and just did something creative with it like what you've done.

Looks great. Isn't a ripened plum a prune. Seems other wood over chain link videos left the neighbors with the ugly side out. I'm not sure if that even allowed, but at best it's neighborly rude. I'll confer with the neighbor and maybe devise a shared cost wood over metal sandwich, where we both get good side out.

You used the structural integrity of the metal fence to help hold the privacy fence right? which I mean is a good idea if the metal fence was installed properly to withstand the force of the wood fence and the wood fence hides the metal one. if that’s what you wanted and it works fuck it more power to ya lol
