8-4 IL TAS Tie in 44.227 on Original ROM

FIRST EVER TAS TIE 8-4 IL ON OG ROM!!! This happened in just 30 minutes of attempts on my first session ever going for it, I once again clutched out last room, and it was achieved the same day I got maxout 8-4 IL a second time! I now have a perfect run on OG ROM in 2 segments, and this proves that a TAS tie in Any% is completely viable without the assistance of the practice ROM. Achieving this and having this 8-4 consistency is very promising, and I'm super excited to see what the future holds.

I think I found out why I care so much about this. I joined this game after you had gotten Lightning 4-2. I never had the shock of seeing "Niftski got Lightning for the first time ever". However, when LeKukie (and then you) got a perfect 8-4, I had the live feeling of someone getting it. So to me, a Perfect 8-4 is THE Hard trick. So seeing you get this so consistently makes me go CRAZY. To my brain, you have MASTERED, THE Hard trick in this game. So seeing you literally get consistent at what my brain considers "The single hard trick", makes me feel "Nothing is hard anymore, what is happening". And remember, all of this over the course of 2 DAYS xD

Once any% tas tie becomes reality, the goat will be the person who can do it the most times. 😆 I still say it's not gonna happen. Lightning + Plate + BBG is a solid enough gatekeeper to prevent getting enough attempts at TAS 8-4. I'm gonna have to see Niftski get TAS 8-4 on like 10 consecutive attempts before I'm convinced. Lol. In other words, 10 axes, 10 save states, 450 seconds. If TAS 8-4 becomes that solid, I'll be looking for Any% TAS Tie.

the practice rom gives you feedback for nearly everything: you can know your subpixels and play some parts accordingly, you can know what inputs you did for fast accels, you can know what frame you get into each room, etc. on OG rom, you don't have any of that information, so it's a bit trickier

Some games are much easier to tie the TAS than others. Home Alone NES is timer limited so every run is WR for example. In terms of 'amount of effort required to match the TAS' if Niftski ever gets this I think it will be the greatest.

the first inputs require R,nothing,R,L,R in the span of 5 frames, which is nearly impossible to do on keyboard. the method i used to achieve those inputs on controller makes it much much easier

Just a question from someone not really watching a lot of SMB1 WR hunting, but why is there a Discord deafen sound in both 44.247 videos at the same time? (0:35 in this video and 0:26 in the previous video). I really do hope that this run is legit and if so, massive congratulations, but for me this looks like the sound might be used from a previous run to make this run look legit? Don't take this as an insult, I just wanna be sure. Also looking forward to see a full run TAS beaten, that will be a huge accomplishment.

It will probably happen a few times before he gets it. He's already tied TAS through 8-3 once but didn't risk doing 8-4 optimally to make sure he finished the run.
